So... I popped my hood yesterday and noticed that the chrome piece on my filter has actually rusted right off... lol

Is that normal? I kinda just shoved it back on there for now but yea... it was like down in my engine (not safe!)

I remember hearing this happen to another member and Brian ended up replacing it for him, otherwise I'd just replace it with a k&n cone filter.

Yeah I moved to North Carolina from New York, I got laughed at when i tried trading in my 03 Trailblazer down here. after 3 or 4 years of northern winter weather your car is pretty much worthless garbage to anyone that knows what they are looking at. now i haven't had to wash under my hood in 6 moths and you can still eat off the engine.

i had that same thing happen to mine i said screw it and bought a k&N filter but you dont need to. You might be able to take the filter off the car get some strong glue let it sit in the house where its warm and let it dry it might work

Yeah I was just asking if it would hurt anything having it broken like that he said it shouldn't but he'd feel better giving me a new filter. :)
