Any of you guys have this problem?

So far I've been lucky and no problems so far. I just realized something driving home from school today...

I'll be in 4th gear (CVT) @about 45mph at 3.5k rpm.. If I gun it, my RPM meter drops suddenly, then picks right up. So for that slight 2 seconds or so.. it just felt like my car was just on a roll, no engine noise, etc..

Anyone ran into the same problem?

I dont have that exact prob.. BUT similar.. if im in a gear higher than 3rd... and im stomp on it.. the RPM will drop for a sec or 2 and then start going up.. but no engine pause.

Yeah, that's one in the same probably my problem too. I didn't have to necessarily be 4th gear too. It happens in 3rd for me also. You think this is normal?

    bump.

Hm, I guess we're the only ones? Anyone else with a CVT care to take theirs out and see if it's happening also?

One reason for this guys may be how the ecu is setup to configure the fuel/air mixture and ratio before inputing it into the engine. Several cars, especially automatic variants (CVTs included) may incur a small 1 to 3 second lag time between flooring it and receiving engine/trans response. This is normal in most cases because the car goes from happily thinking you want to cruise smoothly at a steady pace with a more MPG friendly fuel/air ratio, to suddenly being told to provide a sudden performance oriented action that it has to adjust for. This is especially true for more extended driving periods.

It would be like you happily jogging a mile or so and then suddenly needing to haul ass and sprint away from a dog about to take a chunk out of your rear. You have the 1 to 3 second initial think and change in breathing and pace to speed up.
