rims painted gunmetal

i think most people here who painted their oem rims did it themselves

but sorry for not really answering your question

 

i know a lot of people that did it themselves used the Diplicolor Wheel Paint. u take ur wheels off, clean the rims, sand them down then primer/paint/clear coat (duplicolor makes all 3) i wanna do mine but im afraid cuz i have no spray painting experience n dont wanna mess up my rims

 

alot of others have gotten their wheels powder coated which is a extremely durable finish compared to spraypaint
( search for powder coat

 

well if ur scared get some friends 2 help u out, that way A) u dont have 2 paint them and B) it goes by way faster

thats wht i did i had 2 other friends helpin me out, and trust me, it made life so much simplier

i did mine graphite gray...it was hard doing it myself but i managed to get them right...it was my first time too...so i say go for it...trial and error is one of the good part in working on a project...

 

this might sound dumb but is it possible to powdercoat your rims by yourself or would u have to go somewhere to get that done??.... cuz im really lookin into makin my rims white once i get a job which will be within the next week or two... thanks

 

Well mike you can definitely do it your self but to be up most perfect rims i would say definitely get a pro. But you can powder coat. 200 Grit sand paper, powder coat paint of choice (anything thats good with all weathers), TIME AND TIME AND TIME its a tedious job. Ive never painted rims before but car parts on my old 02 OZ Lancer i did a few and its a pain but it can come out really great.

 

ya i was thinkin of doin it myself but i hardly have the tools to even get the wheel off my car lol let alone do any of the rest.. appreciate the help tho

 

if you goin to get your rims powder coated which is the best way you can go unless you are short on money. Powdercoating usually runs between 50-75 a rim, of course you will have to take the tires off.

I like the idea around getting gunmetal rims, since I do own a 09' Mitsubishi Lancer GTS 5spd manual in Gunmetal Gray, and I am thinking of getting it gunmetaled but how much will it run me, and would I be able to get a hand..?
