Sorry if some of you think this is a stupid question but i was just wondering if i was going to buy racing seats for my 08 lancer would that cause problems with my airbag system? I am not able to afford $2000 for a recaro seat. Or do all seats come with a place to plug in side airbags or is that a feature that just our lancers have? Thanks if anyone can help me and answer this.
If you get racing seats then you will have no airbags and the CEL come on unless you purchase the OEM Recaro seats from the Evo X... Since you mentioned you cannot afford the OEM Racaro seats from the Evo X then you will have no airbags... LT Staff
Yes I got the OEM recaros, and the light is on until I go to the dealer and update the ip address between the car and the seats. If you dont mind looking at a warning light go AM
Ok thanks flow. But another thing, what airbags are you talking about? Is this the front airbags or which ones? Yeah i dont know much about my cars safety, that seems so bad! lol Would seats like this work? http://www.racinx.com/RACINX/accessorie ... xseats.htm My car is black with an orange pinstripe so im looking for black and orange seats. This is the only place that has seats like that? Just wonderin if they would work or cause problems?
The seat got airbags on the side facing the doors, go take a look at the little sticker (SRS sticker) on the passenger and drivers seat.
Thanks papis, i have never noticed that before. So does anybody have any advice about seats i could possibly get or what? other than recaro cuz i cant afford those. i also know that any changes to the safety features will automatically void the warranty! it sucks!
Here is an option for you... Remove the stock seats, have the oem covers copied in the colors you want and reinstall with new seat covers. Katskin does this type of work but it could be pricey. If you need the race seats for actual racing then i'd save the money and get the actual Recaro seats to keep the airbags. Trust me, from someone who's seen plenty of vehicle crash scenes... you want the airbags!
+1...just redo the oem seats to your liking at an auto upholstery shop. Or just suck it up and save the cash for the real deal. This will save you time and some money, especially when you need to get the seat brackets, belts and all that is necessary items to put in aftermarket seats.
if ur going 2 get an aftermarket seat that is not OEM evo x seats and dont mind having a SRS light on get something that is FIA approved brands like..... Sparco, Recaro, Bride, Momo r FIA approved i wouldnt get anything like Ractive or Megan, as they r not FIA approved and can b dangerous if i were u and not wanting 2 spend money.... id get Sparco Speeds seats... roughly 300ish per seat and FIA approved
I'll save for the OEM Recaro seats if you want to upgrade seats. Not only you can keep your warranty, but also, it will keep you safe with those extra airbags. looks < Safety.. just my .2
