Hey guys. I have a problem. I only have RRM Pulley and RRM SRI installed. Believe it or not, I used to average about 360 miles a tank. Lately my car hasn't been getting the same MPG as it used to. I've have barely been able to get 300 miles with one tank of gas. Most of my driving is done on the Highway, considering I commute about 55 miles round trip. I use unleaded and I use the same gas station as always. I have not changed anything. I dont have a heavy foot either  What factors could be causing this? Is it the weather? It doesnt get that cold in NJ. Could it be tire pressure? About how many miles per tank have you guys been getting? Thanks in advance guys.
as far as simple things go, you could *check tire pressure. *re-tighten/check all RRM Short-ram clamps and bolts. *make sure the filter isnt clogged/dirty *you could try using a fuel-additive for the fuel-system. *use a different gas station those are what popped into my head if that was me. if these options still yeild SUPER LOW gas mileage i would hate to think there's something 'wrong' with your car  i can reach about 370-400 no problem.
maybe it has something to do with the SRI, but not sure. your car might be shooting out more gas to adjust for the more air your taking in. another reason might be cuz SRI's intake hotter air and hotter air is not good for cars. another reason could be as little as an oil change, oil filter, air filter, fuel filter, tire presure, fuel injection cleaning.....but really i doubt it that it is any of the last things i said. i honestly think its the SRI or since you got it, your foot got heavier and you have noticed it.
ive had the RRM SRI installed since summer. It only began not too long ago. i also just got an oil change 2 weeks ago  i'll try those things out, this is frustrating me.
i don't blame ya. That sucks. Sometimes you can even get shitty gas. maybe try a different octane. i run 91, i heard others use 89. can't complain about my mileage
Hey jRox, I have a total stock GTS with CVT and I only get about 300 miles to a tank (about 13.5 gallons). I was getting ruffly 27-28 mpgs (about 360-370 a tank), now I am only getting 23-24 mpgs. I have been keeping track to see if it was a gas station or something, but over the last 6 fill-ups it has been consistent. I also travel a good distance everyday for work, about 87 miles round trip and moslty highway aswell. There might be something about the colder weather, becuase you have a slightly modded car and I have a stock car and we are getting the same results with gas milaege. I called the dealer and asked if they could flash the ECU or something and the guy said if there was anything wrong with the engine/fuel manangment it would set off the ses light automatically. He basically said there was nothing you could do about it untill the light goes on. So, basically, calling the dealer didnt help me at all. If you contact your dealer, let me know if they say the same, or if they are more accomidating.
I filled up today and used 12.9gallons and got 356 miles to the gallons which equals out to be 27.5 mpg. i travel 70miles round trip 7days a week. i have 5spd. The most i've gotten was 30.5mpg once. I try not to ever use more then 13.5gallons of gas ever. O and i always use the same gas station as well and i run on 87 regular.
^ Yeah, the Piggyback is supposed to help with gas milege, so that might be why your getting better overall milege. Also, the Pully is also reported to help a little on MPGs aswell. Maybe those two working together are helping you keet decent milege.
i was actually getting 28 before the piggy so i know the piggy isn't doing it. Maybe its me doing the speed limit.
lol talk about low RON ratings.. i run 98 and refuse to use anything less. Cant even get anything lower than 91 even if i wanted to.
Payload, just so you know, the U.S. doesn't use the RON method as Aus. does. We use MON or (R + M/2), so our numbers are a little lower because of the way our octane ratings are measured as opposed to yours. I'm not quite sure though what 98 RON would be equivalent to in the U.S. standard. Sean
Where do you guys usually fill up? I know for those of you who are sunoco buyers may be making a mistake...sunoco adds ethenol to their mixture to make the emissions a little cleaner....try to avoid using their gas or anyone who adds the ethenol to their mixture...it may seem cheaper but is not quite as good as the others. It DOES effect your gas mileage(do some research on it). Also if you have the CVT try using the paddle shifters and see if it makes a difference. I have a completely stock 5spd GTS and i can get around 30mpg highway coming home from school...i use cruise control alot too tho so it helps!
I get worse mpg with the paddle shifters. The drive mode RPM is lower and takes less throttle to keep the car moving than the preset gears. I get about 33-37 on the highway and about 26-29 in the city.
fuck 33-37 Highway! shit i have a 5speed with pully and piggyback and recently i can't get the damn reading past 31. Its way to cold. Cold will effect mpg drasticly cause whenever it tells me its like 50degrees outside i avg 32 to 35 then when its 20 degrees im luck if i get 30 on the reading. but i do get my avg from filling up. i usually get 360miles to 13.3 gallons
By federal law, all gasoline will start to contain a 10% ethanol volume by content. So, it doesn't matter which gas station you choose, its basically all the same gas. Bill
i would agree on the colder weather. in Summer/Fall season, i would average about 23-26 in stop and go traffic and about 29-33 on the highway. i usually get these numbers on the highway going to work because its usually free in the morning and going home is a bit traffic. Since winter came, ive been getting about 300's. Sometimes less. i usually wait til my tank is at the last line before it gives me a fuel warning to fill up.
i average about 320-340mi/tank(13gal). and thats all the way till the 2nd gas warning lights up even with my sri and exhaust. i believe its how you step on the gas. you floor it too much means you burn gas up more and vice versa...try working on how you press on the gas...keep it steady when your in the highway and dont engine brake when your in the city...it kinda make a difference to what i have experience...
what do you mean engine brake. in the city i just let go of the gas to give the light some time to change bak to green instaed of braking.
