So I got tired of the Tonka Truck wheels that came stock with my ES and decided to add something with a little more style. I wound up going with 17" MSW Type 14 wheels from Tirerack. So far I'm loving them. I didn't want anything too big or heavy that might spoil the ES's smooth ride, so I decided from the start that I was going to go with 17's. Also, if you've ever looked you'll see that tires for 18"s cost about twice as much as tires for 17"s. Plus, these wheels are dirt cheap, at $90.00 a piece. My local Mitsubishi swapped all four TPMS sensors for $75.00. I was out the door with this entire upgrade for less than $800.00. All in all, I couldn't be happier. Not ultra flashy or anything, just a tasteful upgrade:
They fit the car, nicely. They just seem too stockish for my taste though. Not hating, just my opinion.
Yeah, that's sorta what I was going for. Something that looked nicer than the wheels that came with the car, but wasn't too flashy.
Don't even remember. Got the cheapest all-season they had at tirerack. They were $65.00 a piece. I just looked and it seems they just sold out, because the cheapest now are $75.00.
good example of what the ES model should have come with! Now picture your car dropped, it'll look even much better.
Heh, that's pretty slammed! Honestly though, I doubt I'll drop it at all. If I do it'll be just a little. Maybe just an inch with Eibach Prokits. My main concern is keeping the car's comfortable ride. I've actually got an MR2 turbo that I've been upgrading for the past 4 years that's my performance car. Dropped with prokits and dampened with adjustable Tokiko Illumina struts the car corners on rails. You can see it next to my Lancer in my picture gallery. The Lancer, OTOH is my comfortable commuter and family hauler. My next upgrades will mostly be style and comfort stuff. The bluetooth unit. Maybe leather seats. If I can find a GTS steering wheel on eBay I might swap that in.
