I am having trouble with my 08 Lancer. Whenever we have a night below 20 degrees my car has a tendency of not starting up with my auto start. I was wondering what the best battery would be for our car. I was thinking about going with an optima battery but I am not looking to spend a lot. I am also having trouble with my radar dector and I believe this might also be the issue. What battery would you guys suggest?
another question......would relocating the battery to the trunk help with the cold also?.. back to your question..for the radar.....i would say you may have a short?...maybe?...or a fuse is out, or loose? and the whole -20 question im not sure as i live in georgia...but it gets cold here too!!! like 50 in the mornings
I've noticed a lot of problems with trying to start the lancer in the cold... try turning the car to the accessory mode for about 15sec before starting the ignition. This will help the car self prime in the cold instead of trying to start the car in a hurry.
This is most likely due to a TSB Technical Service Bulletin, the relays freeze, making the start take longer or not start at all. More info here: viewtopic.php?f=119&t=4753&p=58158&hilit=tsb#p58158 And more from: http://9glancers.com/index.php/topic,19.0.html (pics from 9gl)
get optima, if you have money get yellow top if not, get red top... as for the radar detector, when i went to europe i told my dad to crank up my car when he can. so one week he didnt crank it up for 4 days. Then on the 5th day he tried and the car would not start.... I have a brand new red top optima... come to find out that the radar detector drained my battery... i now unplug it and am worry free.
i never had a problem with my radar detector and its directly wired under the cigarette lighter...but before the lojack system drained my battery...
