so, i bought a set of wheels today, threw them on and now im hearing some pretty bad noises. im trying to figure out what to do here.. it looks like the back two wheels are rubbing up against my drum brakes. the fronts seem okay. there's a screeching sound while im moving and a can hear metal on metal "clinking". i just drove the car home tonight and im pretty freaked out about it. any advice on what to do here? im looking to get to a shop in the morning, but anyone think that the wheels just wont fit? or can i find a way around this.
first of all stop driving it untill you can get it fixed or you may have a real bad problem or even lose a wheel and/or caliper if its bad enough it may be as simple as a wheel spacer to give it just enough clearance i'd highly reccomend taking a good look to see where the wheel is making contact take your wheel off there will be some kind of marks on wheel if it is good luck
thanks a lot man, yeah i ran around today looking for wheel spacers and no luck, i've seen some online but im not sure on exactly what i need. on suggestions or advice?
did you pull off one of the suspect wheels and look for any marks yet ? if yes and i had your problem i'd call up some custom wheel places and see if they carry the spacers for your car most likely they have or can get them
yeah, i went out and picked up some spacers but im still having some issues so i brought the car into my local wheel place... the moda md2's look great but i dont recommend anyone getting them.
the problem was that the back wheels were grinding against the rear drum brakes, the solution was spacers from summit racing. sounds simple enough but there was a lot of tweaking involved here and there.
yeah, i have found a few guys on the internet with them on the new lancer but i found that same thing. but sadly, im still having a lot of problems.. looks like my spacers are wrong now. and this is causing a lot of shaking in the wheels now.. i've got a couple options, disc brake kit for the back of my car, sell the wheels to a GTS owner, or get spacers custom made for about 150.00 a pair.
