Just thought i'd let everyone know that if u ever run over a nail, u can fix the hole with "Slime". I bought it at autozone for like 13 bucks. I had like a 2in nail in my front tire. Took it out and put in the slime. worked great. by the way, the tire pressure sensor works great.
Be careful doing this though, as some slimes will work temporarily, but a patch is the best solution from a tire shop. Also, some slimes, depending on chemical composition, will, over time and usage, eat the inner part of the tire sidewalls and tread which can lead to a dangerous blow out. Bill
Yep wildbill is right i'll always stick to the plug its always worked for me and my shop does it for me for free. You got to love that.
i'll probably end up buying a new tire but it worked for now. just drove 100miles on the freeway with no problems. but its still in the back of my head that it might pop. thanks for the info guys.
they were tearing up the roads here to re-pave and when they pulled the small reflectors up out of the road i guess they left some small..very...very sharp pieces of them in a spot on the road and needless to say...i ran over it...then...parked my car at school...got out early..and was greeted with a flat tire...luckly had plyers and a can of some kind of sealer you shake it up and screw it into your valve stem and let it do its thing...it adds air pressure to your tire along with patching the hole...cant think of the name but you can get it at autozone for like 5 bucks (same shelf as the slime)...def worth it...i went and bought another can just incase...just another option for you guys..
I couldn't when I had my first nail in my front left tire. Nail was on the outer side of the wheel [most dangerous spot] because if pep boys or any major companies try to patch it up , it could explode or cause serve damage to my car so i had to get a whole new tire for $145. Sucked big time.
There's construction where my dad lives although I'm not sure it was there and that's the only construction in that area. Was a very little nail.
Don't feel bad. When I got my 01' Jetta, I went through 6 tires at about $200 a tire the first 6 months...(yeah I am an abuser of things) Bill
HI, My dealer I bought from offered me a 5 year road hazzard warrenty that they will replace any tire or rim for 5 years no questions asked. it only cost $100 extra, and I figured it was well worth it. Fortunitly I have not needed it, but I figured that it would be better safe then sorry. I dont know if your dealers are the same, but the one I bought from has this "worry-free" (no extra cost) thing that as long as you rotate your tires ever other oil change, they will replace your tires when they reach the wear mark for free... for life. I dont know if this is dealer specific or a Mistu thing, but I would ask your dealer if they have extra road-hazzard warrenty or that worry-free thing... for $100 I think its well worth it for 5 years.
