I finally gave her a REALLY good cleaning today and noticed that every where I have stone chips, it's rusted (or at least thats how it looks... orange and stuff) Stone chips I don't care about, that's life, it happens, but c'mon... RUST. It's a 30,000 dollar car and not even a year old... Ugggh...I'm so mad right now.... I'll be takin' her to the dealership tomorrow!
hey did you get the paint ant cathodic protection? i actually purchased both but what happened with the paint protection it somehow was not placed on the car when i picked it up. I have repaired i dont know how many chips with my paint pen it helps prevent the rust. But if they have those options i would see into getting those. Good luck.
I know what you mean, the metal piece under my seats is starting to rust too and i have no idea how cuz the inside of my car has never gotten wet !!!
I was never informed of any kind of paint protection package. ??? All I got was rust-proofing for the under-carriage... I was okay with the paint scratches and chips, but RUST is a little too much for me...
Yeah most new paint is enviromental. Less oil and more waterbase which means weaker paint. The paint protection done here is just basically a strong clear coat. But im my case they are buffing out and touch up as many scratches and scotch gaurding the interior again for the screw up not placing it on when i got the car. Which is decent i must say.
i know how you feel, its like the clear coat totally disappeared. Its doing it on my car too, right behind the back doors. I wonder what causes it.
So I emailed my Mitsu dealership about the problem and all they said was "It sounds like its brake dust on your car, it does come off". So, I emailed them back telling them how I sat there for a good 10 minutes trying to pick it off with my fingernail and it didn't come off any. And that I'd update them if I can't get it off at all (which I don't think I will!) LOL. Any suggestions?
Our cars have a 7-year/100,000 mile anti-corrosion warranty, take your baby back to the dealer and show them the problem first hand. Whether the rust is a result from everyday driving or a manufacturing defect they are obligated to adhere to the warranty terms. In other words go back to the dealer and bitch until you're blue in the face. Also make sure they're are plenty of other customers on the showroom floor when you do vent, their sales and service department will scramble to not only try and keep you quiet but to fix your problems as well.
I have the 7 year protection mind you it got extended to 7 when i had the cathoidic protection added. But i will check up on that today just to be sure.
i have the 7 year/100,000 mile protection and i called the dealership and the person i talked to said that the warranty covers rust from the inside out. He told me that it does not cover rock chips and what not.
this sounds a lot like rail dust which is a problem with cars sold in Canada, many come into port in the south such as Florida as mine did and then travel by truck or rail to the destination. During the travel dust from the friction on the train tracks attaches to the paint and will rust, i believe another person on the forum has had this problem before. here is a good example, http://www.sherwin-automotive.com/refer ... /index.cfm go to the dealer and B*tch up a storm if this is what you think it could be because the damage was done before you purchased the car! I think you can use a clay bar before it embeds itself to far in the pain, but this is something that should be professionally corrected by a detailer since it was not your fault.
Well im lucky i guess. The Auto Port is 2 minutes from my house. I see hundreds of BMW, Merc, Volvo, well almost every new car thats hittin the streets before they hit them. Our dealership is just a 5 minute drive from there. I actually have seen new lancers bring place on the rail cars so i guess he is right about the dust issue,
Oh kinds off topic but my issue is these damn little sparrows. They are crappin all over the daughter, next doors, and my Lancer. Those little Bastards are checkin themselves out in the mirrors and spend so much time there that they shit all over the door and mirror. The wife actually showed it to me those little pricks. I also have damning videos lol. death to these sparrows. See here it is the bastards. See See
If the dealer didn't offer you the electronic rust inhibitor then that was mean. My Dealer gave me the unit and install for free at time of purchase. If not they then I would suggest you pick up one of those from a crappy tire they work wonders. its like $200+tax. It sends out an Edicurrent (electrical charge) that prevents the oxidation process of the metal. If theres already rust then what this should prevent it from spreading.
No, I wasn't offered anything about rust or the body other than the rust proofing lol which everyone does anyway.
