i just did 1005 kilometers on a thank of gas in the hills of charlevoix, quebec. went to the mitsu dealer after comming back home and asked whats the normal mileage of these cars and they told me 500 to 600 kilometres on a tank, is my car not normal in some ways ?

btw it was on 16" winter tires inflated to 31 psi (i normally run my sommer 18" at 40 psi)

i was going between 100 to 115 on the flat highway, down to 50 at 4300 rpm in 4th or 3rd gear on some 13% hills

all speed denominative are in kilometers hour!

    Wow... 2.4l or the 2.0l engine ?
My last tank coming back from Florida this summer was 750km on my 09 GTS (2.4l engine) at 120km/h avg and thought it was pretty good !!! But 1000km seems amazing !!!!!!!!

Did you go down hill all the time or up and down ?

yea you can get pretty good milage if you try with this car. I have an 08 gts and and my record so far has been 39mpg highway (yes miles) by cruising at 60mph behind a truck to reduce some drag =)

best tank capacity i've gotten is about 490 miles/tank from my road trip (NJ to FL and back)

Yeah.. that's about 780km.... around what i did with my 09 GTS... but 1000km is almost 1/4 more !!!

it was up and down hill on the ride
and i have a 2.0L engine. and yeah it seems like too amazing to be true
i like cannot believe the numbers.

it's like 5.8 litres per 100 kilometres and the car projected mileage is 7.0 litres per 100 kms on highway use (i had a mixed type driving pretty much like city and highway use because of the mountains calling for around 9.7 L per 100 kms)

logically i should have done around 8,5 L per 100 km

it is because of the down hills. it takes no gas to do that, and not as much as you would think to go up them. on the flat you wont get that kind of mileage. I have run into that before.

thats pretty impressive... do u have any mods installed?.. cuz after i installed my mods it felt like the engine didnt have to work as hard (on flat surfaces) to keep the same speed as before... and in turn i started getting better gas mileage :)

After intake and exhaust mods and switching from 16" to 18" I'm doing about 31 to 33 MPG, and this car supposed to do 30 on the highway. :wav:
