so i just got an 06 es, i was wondering what intake i should get, short ram or cold air, and what company types and what not, and suggestions?

Short ram, you get a little more punch in the low rpms.. Cold air, your punch comes in the higher rpms.. It's really up to you. The majority of the intakes available right now are short ram.
Keep in mind that with a CAI you will have to do some cutting to install it. You can get an intake that is expensive (by my standards) and fits perfectly or you can get a cheap ebay unit that so of fits. I got a cheap ebay unit, and it fits, but has no brackets (so I made my own), and it works as advertised (don't pay attention to HP claims). Also most CAI kits can be turned into SRI by leaving out the down tube.
