Well first off id like to introduce myself. My name is Jason and I'm hopefully going to be a new Lancer owner, but i need your help. I was wondering if you could lemme know how much you got your GTS for. And if there is a website that has cheap GTS pricing you could gimme a link. Cuz the Dealer down the road from me said they will match or beat any documented price i could find, for the same car and equipment. Thanks for your help.

I got mine for a little over 19 grand. It depends which one you want tho.

    -Base GTS
    -GTS + Sun and Sound Package ^^<what i have>^^
-GTS + Nav and Fast Key

    Price rises in that order

that could be for the very basic 5spd gts. manual transmission is around $800-$1000 cheaper than CVT

^ that's true. the CVT is about a G more. I got the ES CVT for about 17k too. Also think about if you want to mod the exterior. If u do then the Aero kit would be a waste

My two things of advise are:

    1)

Use the "Actual Sales Price" comparison at http://www.edmunds.com to put together what you want in your GTS and to have it show you what any dealer will and should have approximately paid for the vehicle from Mitsu. Print this out so that when you go in to do your final bargaining, you know where they stand and have a bit of leverage. Don't necessarily come right out and say "You got it for X, I want it for X" because the dealer will think your nuts. Another thing to remember is that buying it at or just above what the dealer is paying for it is about right. Remember, the dealer is out there to make money too, just how much is up to how well you can negotiate with them.

    2)

As for your price matching situation, first do step 1 above, then call any of the local Mitsu dealers in your area that you are willing to drive to to test drive/purchase the vehicle from and let them know the exact setup and car you want. We are talking color, accessories, all the way down to the most smallest of things so that you are getting the exact same car with each dealership. Call/Email the dealer letting them know you are shopping for X specific setup of the Lancer GTS and that you ARE shopping with competitors to compare. Also let them know that you are giving each dealer ONE shot to give them the very best price they can. Don't let them try to start haggling over the phone with questions on trade-ins/deposits/Credit approval/payment financing through a bank or through their dealership, just say that you want just a price for the car and the best they can offer. Let each of the dealerships get back to you and then compare them. Make sure to take into account any particular "Dealer Services" such as extended warranties or free oil changes that one dealer may offer that others don't. Also have them preferably email you the qoute so you have your written documentation. Have the dealer explain any weird fees or extra charges such as a "conditioner package for interior" or anything else that is thrown in that you didn't ask for. Some dealers will try to pad their bottom line by adding a $500 to $1000 in fees/accessories that are irrelevant. Finally get a feel for each dealer you talk to. If they rub you the wrong way, don't be afraid to just walk away. They don't own you or your money.

Once you have found what is reasonable to you, you can either go in to test drive and possible purchase if you are ready, or if the lowest priced dealer is one you didn't like, contact a dealer you talked to that you did like and let them know that X dealer is offering X price with which you have a written price qoute for, and most of the time the other dealer will try to match or beat it to get your business because of the natural competition in the market. Just be careful not to go back and forth trying to keep beating the price between 2 or 3 dealers as they will catch on and stop lowering the price as well as may not be as cordial when you finally choose one of them to purchase from if you do.

Hope this helps. Edmunds also has several helpful guides on their website you can read up on to get your ducks in a row before going in to purchase a vehicle.

^ Very good point. Essentially do your research before you go in. Also, get pricing from Kelly Blue Book and NPR (something like that) do give a good idea of what the car is going for. If you want to finance, look at a couple of banks and credit unions. Also, go in to buy a car in the middle of the week when business is slow. If they haven't sold a car all day, they'll prolly do more to get your business cause they want to make that sale.

All the acc. and options are online so know what you want. Also, you can find a auto loan calculator online to give you and idea of your payment will look like. If you're trading in, price you car online at kelly blue book to get an idea of what your car is worth. REmember that you may not get that number, but it'll show the dealer that you know what's going on.

oh yeah, and if you have dings and scratches on ur trade in, don't wash it. If you clean it and make ur car look amazing, they'll be able to see the imperfections better

Here's the deal if i get a GTS I'm prolly not going to touch it as far as exterior goes.

I was also debating on just getting the cheaper version and just dressing it up over time, as far as body kit and rims.

I found this dealer up by were i used to live www.marinamitsubishi.com they seem to have some really great pricing. My dealer said they would price match.

You could also get the GTS and sell the exterior parts over time. I got the ES cause I didn't really care for some of the interior stuff, but now I think maybe I should have. the difference in monthly payment will prolly only be like a $20 difference. use the auto loan calculator and start putting every combo of numbers in and write them down to compare.

This is the break down for what I paid for my GTS CVT here in CT.

    Sticker price = $19,215
    Extended bumper-to bumper warentee to 100k miles = $800
    5 year rim/tire road hazzard replacement warentee = $100

Then I got $2,000 for my trade in (old hyundai elantra with 115k miles)
I also got a $500 rebate cuase my wife graduated college last year.

after taxes, titlle and all that, I walked out @ $19,115.

oh yeah...and think seriously about getting that ding and dent thing for the paint. Mitsu paint sucks unless your going to repaint your care somewhere down the line. I probably will even though it'll bring trade in value down but once I finish my car it won't matter neway
