I don't know if they will have a separate one 4 sale. So I was trying to tread lightly. Cuz I dont wanna hear it from any--"but kru said so" Dont make me tell my DAD!-LMAO!
I think magnaflow sells universail high-flow cats... would they work with our cars? who knows. BTW... KRU, any word on the injen cat-back relaese? I ask cuase my boss shoved some cash in with my check yestuday for a bonus... enough for the Injen CIA, the RRM pully, and alot left over, prob enough for the cat-back!!
did any1 think of making a custom exhaust. lTheres a really good muffler shop near me. thining about askin hem if they wanna make a custom header back for me...I have no idea where to start or wat I want.
^ Its not a question if they want to make one for you... its a question if you have enough money to pay them to make it for you, lol. It all depends on what shop you go to and where you live. For example, in CT where I live, we also have the cali emmisions standard in place. There are about 6 or 7 states that now abide by this standard. So, basically, Most shops in this state wont build a custom header-back exhaust unless every piece going into it is 50-state legal on emmisions. Another thing you have to take into account is how your dealer will react to you messing wih the emmisions of the car. Our cars have two cats in it... if you remove them and cahnge the emmisions of the car, they may not take to kindly to it. They cant outright viod your whole warrenty, but they will surly dispute any claim you have if something happens with the engine itself.
I believe only the PZEV models have two cats, a precat in the header, hence the lower HP rating, and the standard cat. RRMs header will delete the precat, so I doubt the Fed specs will see any substantial gain from the header......
there will be some type of gain from the header no matter what.aftermarket is better than stock.itll all be the same in the end.
eh not really, the 3g Eclipse was a simular setup, stock the Cali spec has a precat, where the Fed(2000-2002) didnt and the aftermarket headers didnt make all that much of a difference on a untuned Fed spec Eclipse(but did let you use the wonderful{sarcasm} RIPP Mods supercharger kit) now this is of course depending which brand you used, the AEM header for the 4cyl. deleted all cats so it gave the Feds a few ponies. Point being MOST header(s) for the 3rd gen Eclipse on a Cali spec, essentially just made it a Fed spec with a few more horses.
Sorry brudda I dont have an eta but it will retail for $750-$850. Any discounts Im not sure of but I have been in talks with Speed Corp. about offering some type of discount for every 1. Fed and Cali do NOT mount up the same way so Injen is making that adjustment.
i wasnt talking about an eclipse,i know ur prolly using it as an example but i was talking about the lancer. POINT being said.itll all be the same in the end.
I know u were talking about the Lancer, I was only using the Eclipse and an example, I highly doubt it will all be the same in the end. They are are making to different headers anyway, one for PZEV and Fed, so in the end they wont be the same
If you want a high flow cat just goto an exhaust shop and get it done, you're gonna have to cut the pipe anyway unless you're going to do piping for the whole midpipe.
#s wise..performance wise...we could go back and forth with this and i think itll all produce about the same #s think about it sure they are being BUILT differently i was thinking of what i said #s and performance.even if both are performing around 2hp difference you wont feel it,youll be able to see it on a dyno but, just bragging rights, itll be the same ill never know, and youll never know unless there are test with feds and psevs auto and manual.
What I dont understand is why would you just replace the cat? u r not gonna c any benefits of it if u restrict it coming out. HMMMM!
Of course there will be some of a gain but why spend ~$500(pulled out of my ass) on something just for bragging rights on a dyno, if you want bragging rights just get the turbo kit and pump the boost to 40psi and have it run once on the dyno before the engine blows and see what kind of numbers you get 8O hopefully they can make a good header for the Fed spec that can pull out numbers close to double digits especially on the bottom end of the RPM range once you tune the engine after installed of course Edit: I knew you were talking about numbers I was simply trying to state that I doubted the different specs would see the same numbers, which is of course speculation, hopefully they will make some great numbers across the entire RPM range.
