idling at 1500 2000 at the start of the engine?

    is this normal?

it only does this in the morning before work. so it sits for hours then it idles high in the am.

    any ideas?

That's a good question. I've noticed the same thing actually.

Engine is warming up from a cold start. Give it 5min and the idle should lower.

    ok so it is normal.
im guessing when its done warming up thats when you start driving not just start an go from cold start.

Yea. This is normal with most mitsu engines. Its a basic and smart way to get the oil and seals to the proper temperature for operation to prevent the engine or any components from leaking from the gaskets.

haha. well i kinda figured that's what it was for but i rather be sure then have it blow up from manufacturer defaults.
speaking of which there aren't any recalls for the 2011s yet right lol

yea i agree with the guys above, its normal when your engine is starting up from a cold start, it might also be a bit louder too if it is a very cold morning/day. if your worrying about warranty/defects then you can go here http://www.mitsubishicars.com/MMNA/jsp/owners-site/index.do and click sign up on the right, this is mit's site to register your car, fill in your email, address, phone number, and car VIN during your registeration and they will contact your if there is any problems with your car. I was talking to a USA mit's rep over the phone a few days ago and she refer me to that site, from there you can see if there is a recall/defect for your car, if there is some kind of defect it would be vin specific so if you have it not every one would have it.
