I am looking into installing HID's into my 09 lancer GTS and I have been reading tons of posts about it. Some people are saying that there is wire cutting involoved others are saying that they will burn out your wiring harness. I am wondering if its even worth it and if i do install em will this effect my warranty with the dealership at all?
whether it is worth it or not is a personal decision. Look at pics and read what people have to say about them. Warranty wise, if any changes you made to factory equipment directly affects a problem, it will not be covered under warranty. As long as you take your time you really shouldn't have anything to worry about from an HID install. There are also PLENTY of how tos around the net. Welcome to LT!!!
thanks man... I am actully thinkin about just finding the EvoX projector headlights and swapping em caues i just read that they are compatable with the 09 GTS harness. It was make things much easier that way. Alls i would need to do then is buy some 6000k replacement bulbs and i'll be set.
haha yeah thats what i'm doing... doesnt even have to be off the evox... can also come off the gts with the navi package.. they have they same headlights as well
if you are worried about warranty issues, buy a kit that is 100% plug-n-play. I didn't want to splice my harness, so that's what i have...and i love it.
did you have any problems with your DRLs. and if so, how did you fix it without messing with your wiring harness?
Only problem with finding a wrecked Evo is I would imagine serious front end damage to total one out, which most likely means the headlights are trashed... Not a given, but probably.
I have an 04 R/A...so i don't have DRL's. But i'm pretty sure that a lot of these companies have addressed that issue...just look into them and if need be, give them a call. i'm sure you can find what you are looking for if you do your homework. The only advice i have for you other than that...stay away from the really cheap kits. Some people are selling them on ebay for around 30-45 bucks...but no warranty and no customer support. I have a set of Kiaxen 8000k's and on the install, i had a problem with one of the ballasts...called them up at 11pm and it was fixed within two minutes.
