I recently put some underglows on. the guy who did it told me that he wouldn't advise taking it off. I took it off anyway ta get the glow everywhere. I'm scared that it might get damaged when it rains. I tiestrapped everything that was flapping ta make it firm. Does anyone know if it's a protection from water, aerodynamics, or something important. please let me know cause i dont wanna damage my car. oh yea and will it void the warranty?
Can some one please help me out? anyone who has any info! the sooner the better. thanks to anyone who can.
calm down calm down, its only been one day, and as for the shield, ive heard of people removin em all the time, they arent really necessary, and as for warranty, im pretty sure they wouldnt bug u bout takin it off but to be safe u could just pop it back on before u go to the dealer
thanks everyone for helpin me out. im just worried if water getting in will damage wat ever that shield was covering. anyone know?
AERODYNAMICS are as important as water damage? you should of just taken the advice of the guy that installed it instead of being stubborn IMO
the shield is what the name is a "shield", you really dont want exessive ammounts of dirt or water flying arround your engine bay. areodynamics...ish but i would say not a factor since our car is slow. the engine itself is sealed other than the intake/exhaust, and your engine bay will get dirtier faster. basicaly you dont have to have it but theres that chance of something happining.
Something to think about... It's odd cause I never would've thought of it if it didn't happen to me the other day, but the potential for some serious damage is there... The other day going down the highway, a semi in front of me launched a rock a little smaller than my first my way... All I could think of was "great, new windsheild here I come", but luckily for me, it went under the car... Had that shield not been there, it would've likely shot up into the engine bay, and chances are, with me going 110KM/h and the rock going how fast in the opposite direction, that something would've gotten messed right up. Odds of that happening are pretty slim, but just a heads up that you may want to consider it as a possibility.
Nah... all it might happen, is that something breaks the oil pan without him noticing, the oil drains out and his engine dies and the warranty doesnt cover him cause, even if the cover is back on when he takes it to the dealership, they are not dumb (enough to take out a shield to put som {ricey IMO} underglows) Nothing mayor.... you are good
Don't worry. My car (in Europe) comes without that shield. It's an option part. So, it's not a problem to remove it
