I am building a custom turbo setup. The 16g turbo I bought has an internal wastegate rated at 36 lbs. The only turbo manifold available for my 02 lancer is the RRM manifold which has an extra pipe for an external wastegate. Are you supposed to have TWO wastegates? Would cutting that extra pipe off of the manifold and welding a plate on there be the only solution if I were to keep the turbo that I have? Is it bad to have two wastegates? I would think it would be, why would you want to purge twice? Please share advice. Thanks.

I don't know about the RRM header, but two wastegates is pointless. I have seen 02-03 turbo manifolds while browsing...I'll see if I can hook you up with some links when I find them again. The only other option is to buy the RRM and buy a turbo with no wastegate. About the pipe on the manifold, PM BrianRRM and I'm sure he can answer that for ya.
