diesel is pretty expensive now an days though. I remember back in the day it was a lot cheaper and more affordable. I say affordable because i own a trucking company an boy i spend pretty much $3,000 a month on diesel alone for 1 truck

The thing is, you can run used corn oil on a standard deisel engine. Hella cheap :)

It was a double edged sword. The government, pushed by the EPA, made new laws/regulation for the oil companies that required the diesel that was produced and used to burn cleaner, more completely, and produce less overall emissions as trucking/railroad are still a major transportation method. The benefit of the new regulations is that emissions have improved in impacting the environment less. The down side is that the extra cost to further refine the desiel to make it leaner to burn cleaner and more throughly cost more money to produce. And, of course, this cost gets passed on to the consumer for the most part.

and a petrol engine can use methanol and ethanol and pretty much any other alchohol .. with the right tune of course. Just wait till petrol runs out and you start getting alchohol based fuels at the pump. ( reminds me of simpsons episode.. 1 for me.. 1 for you ) thats if its all not just a hoax like global warming.. which wouldnt surprise me.
