I know several of you have wanted to venture into the world of custom fiberglass designs. So I have decided to share what info I have learned throughout the years. For a fast backgound of credits, I own a car audio/video/alarm shop and have been in the business for about 17 years now (started when I was 15). I have worked for several custom shops and thats where I learned my tricks. One thing I have notice is that people all have thier ways and some differ. By no means does it mean the way that I do things is the "best" or easiest. Its just the way I was taught. With that said, I wanted to start a monthly series of different "projects" that you could do. Will they all involve the Lancer? No, but you can take the knowledge and apply it to any car/project. The first thing that I want to do is post a list of basic supplies. This list is by no means rock solid, as things could easily be added/removed. You don't have to use the brands that are on the list either. They are just what I use and have learned to like through the years. For instance, I use Evercoat body filler. You could use Bondo body filler, but it is a cheaper quality filler. The list:
No, just regular fiberglass. Carbon Fiber is something I havn't really invested time into yet. Some of the same principles could be used. The main difference is watching how the weave is laid and the resin.
Looks like a good list i did a little fiberglass work when i worked at my airline shop not much though
