Ok maybe it's just me and I just don't understand much about the CVT Tranny (I have a MT), but I guess the question I have is wouldn't there be an optimum RPM range for you to shift (when using the paddles) even though it is a CVT Tranny? And wouldn't you be able to use this shift light to shift during that range?
Not sure I understand your question that well.... you say "this shift light" ... what shift light are you refering to? Well... I have a CVT and in "D" mode its always in the optimum rpms. The paddle shifters are another thing all together. In sport mode, you can bring the rpms up to red line if you want, but I find that the lower virtual "gears" just flatten out once you get past around 4900 -5000. Of course the higher "gears" you can wind out more. Each lower gear seams to have a point where it dont want to go any faster no matter how high you bring the rpms... forget any lights I say... just learn your car and drive it accourdingly.
There are many topics discussing this already. You can catch up by reading the following forums: http://lancertuners.com/modules.php?name=Forums&file=viewtopic&t=1975 http://www.lancertuners.com/modules.php?name=Forums&file=viewtopic&p=4291 There is another topic deep in the forums here where we discussed exactly what the CVT is and what it does for you. I posted a full write up about it, but I can't seem to find it. That would go a long way to answer your question too. Bill
