Hey, i usually read through these boards (been coming here since july) but i felt I had to say something so i registered. I read an article on howstuffworks.com and the thing that stuck in my mind was this statement.

    http://auto.howstuffworks.com/cvt5.htm

It even has a nice diagram and explanation on how cvt works and its advantages and disadvantages. The only con I see for CVT is the reliability.

In that article, they link to a page with detailed tests, data, graphs ect.

my explanation is easier... start the car.. drive down to the nearest mitsu dealer and trade it in for a manual version. ( Read: manual is better )

sorry but i dont like auto's and the CVT just makes me hate them even more.

Other than that good find.. im sure the CVT owners will find it interesting :D

If CVT is supposed to be faster than a manual, then how come every CVT I've seen is slower than its manual equivalent? The Lancer's CVT is supposed to be 1 second slower than the manual which is a pretty big difference.

I still haven't seen an example of where this might be the case.

And I prefer to use the paddle shifters, it just feels so much better.
