Is anyone having problems with stone chips? I had a pathfinder for 11 years and it barely had any stone chips. My 08 has a lot of small knicks from rocks on the hood and the back of the skirt. it shows up a lot b/c its black. I"m kinda pissed this has happened.

I've never been to a detailer...can they fix this kind of stuff b/c the knicks go down all the way to the metal, I would think over time that this would start to rust right? which isn't good.

sry for my ramble, I've tried my hardest to keep this car in immaculate condition, wash, clay, wax

Iv noticed these cars are weak overall as far as the design goes? I mean when I wash my car i just press on the bumpe ra little and can feel it almost bending in all the way. Wierd. Also about the chips, yeah i have 1 too but i bought a touchup marker and fixed it up but those things suckass cuz they dont work like you would expect and you can tell where its been touched up.

But I do have to admit having a black lancer is a bitch because of all the things that come with it. :(

yea...I got he touch up paint pen with clear coat marker too......it sucks balls....I'm bringing in my car to mitsu and asking for a detail job to fix everything, then I'mma throw down some money on a clear bra.

mitsu might me a whole lot more expensive with detailing then other ordinary shops..but if they fuck up.... mitsu will prob be better to deal with

    paint protection

Shoulda bought the paint protection/rust program.
I got a full tilt program from my dealership, acoustic treatment [takes care of the road noise] diamond paint treatment [stone chips] rust inhibitor, and interior protection. Ive been informed on how the program works which is precisely why i bought it. If your considering keeping your lancer for awhile i suggest you do the same. If the paint ever fades, clearcoat flakes, paint chips, basically if it doesnt look like the day you bought it, their problem!! I know this is picky and will probably cause many trips to the dealer and lost time, but the way i figure it, im going to take it in each year and have it looked over and fixed, for free! so the paint warranty in itself is worth it to me. The road noise thing doesnt bother me much as my prelude is like riding on a gocart as far as roadnoise is concerned [honda hasnt a clue about road noise] but the acoustic insulation should help alot especially on the firewalls. The interior is the main reason i got these packages, any scratches tears drying cracking of the leather, and they fix it, your fault or not. Now i know this sounds unrealistic but i checked with the manager and was assured thats how it works, now im going to get him to write down the details of the warranty in full when i pick up my car next week [SO EXCITED] so ill let you guys know what it entails, how many claims or if there is small print he neglected to mention. As for the rust protection, thats pretty self explanitory, if it rusts from the outside in or the other way around, doesnt matter, their problem. I think in the end this package will help me fetch at least 1200 dollars more for the car in 5 years then someone without the package even if its babied. Since thats how much all of this costed, seems like money well spent to me, not like an unused 500 dollar ipod warranty or some shit :p
    Cheers

I got the simoniz protection for my car from the dealership, and it seems to work ok. although i have noticed very minor scratches to my paint around the car, I have yet to get stone chips or anything like that on the front :D

i think the paint program they sell you is a rip unless you live in a cold climate with lots of salt on the roads. I live in vancouver and we have realy mild winters filled with rain. im not worried about the paint, but if i lived somewhere colder i woulda beeen worried about the rust. my lancer is silver and have had no problems so far over three months. If you take care of your car and keep it waxed properly there shouldnt be too many problems...

    yeah

yeah i wouldnt have got the program if i didnt live in toronto. They CAKE the roads in ontario with salt, everyones paint jobs suffer especially my poor prelude. oh well, i go in monday to get everything done, leather, paint protection, acoustic treatment, rust inhibitor and the interior treatment.

    Paint package

Damn I wish my dealer had offered me that paint package. I only was offerd the cathoidic rust protection system. Where i live right near the Atlantic Ocean and the winters are harsh. The paint protection would have been taken in a heart beat. But i guess every dealer has their own deals. I am looking into getting a custom paint job anyway. lets hope so soon.

Same with me as the guy above said...

I just moved to Texas from Michigan... if I lived somewhere that had winter, no questions I'd get it.

I'm also not too worried because when the custom body kits come out and I get one (stock option one is ok but I'd like better) I'll be getting it repainted.

Good thing my best friend is a mechanic with a specialty in body and interior work and stereo work... heh... he does it all for parts for me and the occasional dinner. So all I have to do is fly him down here for a free custom paint job.

Think you could help out a Texas Brother also? I would be happy to contribute for the plane ticket and dinner :)

I'm sure he'd charge you something reasonable if you wanted it done in town. He's always looking for a quick buck when he can to put into his Honda.... he's a Civic man... i know =\

At least he likes some of the late 80s early 90s hatchbacks... instead of those new ones that are fugly as hell
