So recently I've been noticing a few issues with the car. For starters, at times it sounds like theres a grinding noise coming from the engine. Secondly, I had started up my car on an extremely cold day so i let it sit for a few before driving. once i put it into drive (CVT btw) and then into first, I could not exceed 2000 RPM at all. I had to let me car roll down a ramp first then shift into 2nd then back into first before i was able to accelerate. Has anyone else had these problems or know what's going on? Thanks.

How many miles do you have on the car? If you always shift manually do you do it hard and rag on the car all the time?

Yeah I would think so too. I read on the forums somewhere about our trannys but can't seem to find it. I remember its not your typical tranny but like bands that allow us to switch from manual and auto. Can't quite remember. I will eventually find it but not right now. Late and headed to bed. If you get by the dealer let us know what they have to say. Could be useful for other members having the same problem.

never heard of this but do u change from auto to manual while u are driving or do u just go straight from park to auto or manual mode... cuz maybe you have worn out the belt or whatever allows u to change back and forth...

do u warm up ur car? because i read somewhere that the CVT needs to warm up before actually being able to work fully. maybe that can be the cause. if not, check the dealer :)

I can attest to that. Blue goes to school like 30min south of me in CT on cold days I have issues to and last friday I noticed my engine making really weird noises to and I am having issues with my shocks.... i got 40500ish on my car....

its pretty bad because its the same thing as waking a person up from a deep and then puttin them on a treadmill. just give ur car at least a min.
plus, ur engine will thank you in the long run lol :D

not only our engines need warming up...but those who drive CVTs should give it a lil more (3-5mins) because as we all know the CVT trany has its own cooling system...so go figure...hell I live in PR where its warm year round and I let my car at least 2-3 min to warm up...so yeah, you SHOULD let your cars warm up

you dont warm up an engine due to the type of transmission it has, but because if you dont life expectancy will be shorter...

    its just like ^^ said

thanks for the responses. well now i know whats going on so i'll be sure to let the car warm up for a bit before heading out. and usually starting up i go reverse then into manual. i usually stay in manual unless im going to be cruising on the highway in which case i switch it to auto. im hoping that this isnt going to cause long term damage to the tranny.

o ok ya i have a lil under 19K.. so hopefully if we let our cars warm up well be good for the future.. or we just sell the car before we feel the after effects lol jk jk
