How'd you guys do it? Is sanding neccessary? I'm thinking of just grease cleaner.. then paint. What's the process? I want to paint my covers white! :D

Give me some step by step instructions. Also, which primer and paint you used. I assume Dupli High Heat, but primer? Preparations?

P.S. Pics would be great if you haven't already posted it on the forum.

I didn't sand or prime my covers. Just rubbed them down w/ isopropyl, masked the mivec & mitsu symbol and painted w/ dupli-color hi-heat engine paint. I put on about 8 coats, each coat applied about 20 min apart. Let dry overnight. Hope that helps.

I didn't prime it but I sanded it down a little and rubbed it with isopropyl alcohol, just enough to get the surface rough. just like sol, went to pepboys and bought duplicolor high heat engine paint, applied about 6 coats around 10-15 mins apart, I then just let it dry

    hey tat what's up
go to a paint shop and buy a can of bulldog,it's and adherent so the paint can stick to the plastic, then get a high temp paint to paint the cover,to finish if you want a shine look use clear paint..good luck 8)

My neighbor (Who seems to be a jack of all trades but master of non...not to mention a little crazy 8O ) said that if i rubbed some Denatured Alcohol on the plastic that it would take the plastic oils off of the desired peice. Im gonna try it with my Engine cover, the small peice just behind it (The long peice with the three bolts) and the fuse box cover. Im thinking Maroon.....or maybe a dark Red with the Mitsu symbol and the Mivec white. Get me excited jsut thinking about it!

Crazy, lol. But kinda right. When I did my spark plug cover, and my fuse box, I had to wash it completely with dish soap, dry it, and then clean it with some type of ammonia solution. In my case, I used windex. It helps to clean off any type of oil, or this latex compound on the plastic.

Spiderman and autobot, I'll definitely give them a shot. I still haven't even had the time to go out and buy the paints and what not yet; I'm not even sure if it comes in white either, haha. Will have to go check kragen or autozone eventually; hopefully next week.

Willie, I'll try to see what I can do. I'll PM you or something. :D

I was wondering if i would be able to drive with my spark plug, engine and fuse box covers off while they dry. I will most likely need to do some running around while they are drying so is it safe or will it screw up the engine?

I would keep the fuse box on just in case for dirt and debris. spark plug and engine cover will be alright. DEs do not have an engine cover so you should be alright there.

I don't see how it can screw up your engine. Except maybe worry about the fuse box getting wet.
