I have a 2009 Lancer GTS. When turning on my AC, it always seemed abnormally noisy but tolerable. Admitedly I only use my AC once in awhile. It was kind of hot today and even my co-worker noticed that the air coming out was not cold at all especially on the mid-passegner vent and passenger vent. By the way, I had the temp control set at around 66, air control was mid-way, the the vent control was on the face and yes the AC light was on. I noticed that the air coming from the driver vent and mid-driver vent were only mildly cool. The AC light even started blinking today. The manual metions something compressor problem. I have only had the car since July 08 and it only has about 10k miles on it . :x I will have to call my dealer tommorow morning to have it inspected. When you guys turn on your air conditioner does it run pretty quiet :?:

It seem like the aircon system is over pressure and course the systems to cut off before it can cool you down. to confirm my theory is right, you can try to ON the air con after sunset or try somewhere under the shade if the air con can continual cool you down.

Update: My dealer inspected my car and found "DTC B1079, A/C Frigerant Leak". There was only 3 ounces of refrigerant although I have no clue of the A/C's refrigerant capacity in the first place. I am curious now; anyone know? They recharged the system and pressure tested the system for 15 minutes, but could detect any leak. Anyways, they added a dye to my system and advised me to bring my car back in a week and they will double check the A/C for leaks. Maybe the factory forgot to fill up the refrigerant because come to think of it, my AC has never felt as cold as it did when I tried it out this afternoon. The A/C also ran very quiet this afternoon.
