Got my lancer couple months back and had a quick question about manual. Iam comparing this to my friends 93 3000gt. But when your car is still rolling foward and you push the clutch in all the way and put it in reverse it does the fuck you no! grinding noise even if the clutch is still push all the way in till i come to a complete stop. While he says his GT doesnt do that. If your going in reverse still rolling and push clutch in and put it 1st its fine. Just want to make sure this is normal.
for another reference my 02 Eclipse GT also allowed me to roll back and THEN engage reverse with no problems. Now my gf's 06 Si AND my Lancer do not allow engagement while your in motion. Im guessing this is normal. With newer vehicles, anyway
my gts is 5spd too and i've had it happen...but not very often....it even does it when i'm rolling backwards....cause sometimes i'll back out of driveway and give it enough gas for what i think would get me out and then just pop it into neutral....but because of the snow piled up at the end of the driveway from the plows i have to give it even more gas before i come up to the snow bank and i'll hear the grinding sometimes when i pop it back into reverse...mind you tho that i was already rolling backwards....not forward
ye for me its never happened when iam rolling backwards. Even if i let the clutch out while still rolling backwards puting it into 1st which cant be good for my transmission. It only happens when iam rolling forward i push the clutch all the way in and keep it move to reverse and i get the grinding noise with the clutch still pushed all the way in.
