'"This is the BIN5 Fed Standard number for the 152hp models = 8MTXV02.0GRG"' '"This is the SULEV II Californa Stadard number for the 143hp models = 8MTXV02.0G6G"' for cali owners of a 2008 lancer, did you guys ever checked out just how much hp your 08 lancer. i check the # under my hood and found out that my lancer gts is only 143hp. how can i bring that 143hp up to 152hp its kind a bs when they advertise it as 152hp and now i just found out that my gts is only 143hp does it make a difference having a 143 or 152. does anybody else have the same concern as i do
I don't know how to say this without sounding like a smart ass but... I knew i was buying a Cali-Spec Model of 143 hp because i live in Cali. 8) Even my purchase sticker said it was a Cali-spec.
read the window sticker next time, they all say it Cali. The Mitsu site states that the PZEV models have a different Cat setup so I assume thats the only difference if you are looking to change it.
this is my first car to be bought off from the dealer so i didnt knw i was mainly focus on the new looks of the lancer and i wasnt focusing on the other stuff what i know is what i saw from te advertisement i donth know anything abour rhe cali emission requirements
from the mitsu site "A PZEV-rated Lancer engine as equipped with a complex catalyst system produces 143-hp* in comparison proving that power and environmentalism can live in harmony."
There are several sources that state the Cali specific spec with the slightly reduced HP. Futhermore, it is not Mitsu fault. They are just complying with Cali Law to meet more stringent environmental guidelines. Technically, the catalytic converter is the only major difference except for possible (and most likely) an ECU flash specific to that model. The problem is even if you flash the ECU to a regular lancer spec, 9 times out of 10 changing the catalytic converter will void your warranty as it is a major part of the emissions system that can affect the engine. So tread cautiously. Bill
I saw numerous stickers under there, I'm assuming the sticker being discussed is the one that mentions EPA regs, but I don't see anything about HP. What am I missing here, guys?
