Disk Brakes

    Has anybody converted the rear drum brakes on an 2002 lancer oz rally into disk brakes? If so what did you use and how did you perform it?

    Your cheapest route is to find a 04-06 Ralliart in a junkyard. Friend of mine had a 04 ES..found a RA and pulled the setup from it...cost him about 150 bucks and half day's work.

    Are eclipse brakes compatible too? also i heard if i used eclipse brakes i would have to go to 5 lug wheels...would that be true?

    Honestly..I have no idea. I've worked on quite a few of them, but never thought to check it out.

    No the Eclipse is not compatible.
    If you do the Ralliart swap then you will need new rims since they are 5 lug.

    Parts list made from a local friend (Senate)

    Rear Disc Conversion:

    Rotors and pads - available from various places in various styles

    Backing plates - only available new from Mitsu (MR569384 & MR569389)

    Parking brake hardware kit - available from Rockauto.com - HW17405

    5-lug hub assembly (you need 2) - available from Rockauto.com - HA590103

    E-brake cables - only available new from Mitsu (MN102171 & MN102172)

    Rear calipers - available new from Mitsu (MR955065 & MR955066), Rockauto.com as a loaded rear pair (8630203)

    Brake hose (you need 2) - available new from Mitsu (MR449101), Rockauto.com (H620299)

    Brake hard lines - available new from Mitsu (MR493468 & MR493469)

    Brake hose (you need 2) - available new from Mitsu (MR493450)

    Brake line clips (you need 6) - available new from Mitsu (MA431825)

    Brake shoes - available new from Rockauto.com or from any local part store

    That covers the rear disc & 5-lug swap. On to the front 5-lug conversion. The Ralliart and Lancer use the same spindle assembly, wheel bearing, etc.. You only need to change out the calipers and hub assemblies. The best route would be to source the entire spindle assembly from a Ralliart with the 5-lug hub already installed and maybe the caliper included. If not, here is the information:

    Hub assembly (you need 2) - available new from Mitsu (MR519923), also may be ordered from a local part store

    Calipers - available new from Mitsu (MR955063 & MR955064), or loaded from any local part store
