so i have been think about doing a bod to my factory bumper and i want your input on if it will mess with the structural integrity of the bumper and just your opinion in general.. ok so when you look at the front of the lancer there's the cross piece that everyone blacks out, well i have a new idea that i want to do.. i want to cut it out and put a grill from top to bottom! it will look some what like that audi grill but i have a black lancer and i will make the grill black to blend into the car... now what i want to know is: -if any know it i can get rid of the foam thats on the bumper beam? -if the bumper will be able to hold up? -and for those rrm guys i will be turboing the car later and i want to make sure nothing will get in the way of the piping! so info on the piping route would be great!
you can toss the foam, but the crash bar will have to stay for any type of safety. Im not exactly sure, but i think there's an airbag sensor either in front or behind the crash bar...so taking it out may not even be an option.
Lol im been toying with the idea meself i've seen it done to one car way back. He had said it was a bit of work. I also am thinking of doing some other custom things all drawn up just need time and money lol. Good luck if you do and post pics.

i am in the planing process and so ill let you know how it goes i dont think its going to be very hard except the making of the grill im not sure what style i want to use... and ideas?
hey i took out my foam from my bumper.. no difference with it there or out actually... the bar does have to stay.. without it it would affect your bumper collision and your car your deffially not pass inspection when the time comes... its the only thing between something u hit and the engine.. But ive seen 1 car around nova scotia like that with the whole thing as a grill and its really nice.. just dont do that cheesy chrome stripping around it please haha... ive got the evo x grill in mine and taken the foam and cutting the bumper was a pain.. but can be done in a hour or so
yeah the grill is going to be completely black hence the name of me on here...blk_out_gts... i have a guy thats going to powder coat my wheels gloss black in one day that should be soon and the car will be pretty much all black!
