Question! how did you go about covering the Mitsu logo and MIVEC when you painted? I used painters tape all around the logo and mivec to paint them. that was a P I T FRIGGIN A!

    Guys,

Here's a pic of mine painted with Krylon Fusion.

Before you ask, it came with the Mitsubishi and MIVEC in silver from the factory, so they got masked along with the "inlets" and then sprayed.

I will state that Krylon fusion is hands down the best paint for the job,. Just make sure you clean the cover really well then leave it to dry prior to masking it, then hang it and paint it. Will be dry in 3-4 hrs and ready to re-install in 24hrs!

To paint the engive cover do you just unscrew those two screws and thats it? I really like the way yours came out.

Thanks for the pictures everybody, they look pretty sick. Especially like the red with the black inlets.

Mine was all black to begin. If you have the patience. You can do what i did. Mask everything to leave black(PITA), 100 grit sand, 400 grit sand, 3 coats dupli-color primer, 5 coats dupli-color red, 1 clear coat dupli- color also. Here its is. Worth IT!!

1/2 inch painters tape. Get a BIG piece, wedge it in, and pushed it in the creases and crannies with a pencil eraser and a rubber spudger, Then cut, very carefully, along the lettering with a utility knife pealing the part on the letters and the logo off while leaving the surrounding areas. Then after cutting I pushed the tape down more, with the spudger. This is a GIGANTIC PITA!!! 2-3 pieces of masking with the tape going different ways to ensure complete masking. Took 2 hours to mask Mivec alone :-o

yeah i cut tiny pieces of painters tape to fit in the tiny crannies. Lots of tiny triangles. took a good hour or so just taping. then just using 3 coats of the Krylon Fusion to paint. well worth the couple of hours.
