I'm thinking about painting the engine cover and fuse box cover this weekend and I'm just wondering what color you think would look best. I know it's all personal preference an blah blah blah but I wanna know what you guys like. I've got a white ES. If they have white I might do that.. other than that any suggestions?
White is gonna be hard to keep clean. I have sparkly blue and the dust that gets in there makes it look soooo gross. Seeing that you have a white car though you can do pretty much whatever color you like!! Anything from red to lime green would work haha.
Lol yeah I was thinking red would look pretty sick. First I gotta drop by home depot and see what they have. And to get plasti-dip for my grille blackout
What is you accent color? If you dont have one, pick one. White would work, long as you keep it clean, but you might also consider what I did, which is to git rid of the plastic cover all together and paint the Cam Cover.
I have done a few different colors and color combos under the hood. Blue, blue and white, red, and purple and white. All I can tell you is do NOT buy the split loom (conveluted tubing for the PC peeps) at napa, autozone, pep boys, etc, it fades super quick. Order it offline...its cheaper, and its usually way better stuff.
I use Krylon Fusion, for about $1.99 a can you cannot get better than that. No priming or sanding needed. :drunken: :drunken:
Lime green!!! i would if my gts was white. Friggin home depot only had white and black Krylon yesterday when I went. I want red to paint the mitsu logo and mivec on my engine cover.
yea home depot didnt have a good selection for me either, i ended up going to advanced auto parts and got a flat red paint, it was actually for "very high temps" up to 2000F u can paint headers with it lol but its the only thing i found so i used it and it came out pretty sweet, i might post pix soon
Wow thanks for all the idea's guys. I might go black just because it'll look clean and stay clean. Not to mention I already have a can of high temp at my house lol. Hurray for not spending any money!
I'd say red. That's what I have. I used some high temp gloss red paint from advance auto. Whatever color you choose, just remember to make sure and sand first.
I used 320 fine grit sandpaper to do mine. I also used Duplicolor gloss red engine paint to paint it because its heat resistant up to some crazy temp. like 4,000* or something
ah man! i painted yesterday. Today I sprayed with the clear coat. the the paint on the "M" on the MIVEC shriveled. So I had to sand the whole MIVEC and paint again. ugggh! dont know what happened, just the "M".
Looks pretty good from what I can see in your avatar. I just got that Plasti-Dip stuff and put 3 coats on my sub cover. I love how it looks. I'll post pictures later.
Pics of my sub yeah. I decided not to paint my engine cover's though. Painted cover on my dirty trunk. Installed.
that sub cover looks good I did my engine up with the duplicolor mystify color changing stuff. It's different, looks good i think
