Ive got a 09 es sport with the stock single disk radio. My question is if i can huck up one of the rockferdfosgate subs in the truck with using the stock radio. It seams like the car is pre wired for the sub because i can see what apears to be a wire for it on the drivers side of the trunck. But im not sure if the sock stero will be able to support it.
ok first you need an amp unless you hook up the sub directly off the speaker, grant the sub will act like a speaker it will play vocals and only recive the same power as your other speakers. 2 you need a power wire hooked directly from your battey to your amp that is if you do this right(make sure it's ligit). 3 make sure you run a remote wire from the back of your radio/head unit so when ever you turn your car on it doesnt drain your battey. 4 I highly doubt that your stock headunit has RCA outputs if it does don't get a new one just by RCA cables and run them under your trim to the amp. 5 if you need a new head unit with RCA outputs make sure you get a wiring kit to interface them with your stock wiring harnes. depending on amp strength you might need a capasiter to. Ok now from a cheap bastard's point of view this is exactly what I did 1. Bought subs I have 2 10" kenwoods bought them from a friend for $100 2. Bought a box from my friend for $55 (your box is key to how much rebound you get when your subs fire basicly they fire faster if the box is smaller and sealed well, best boxes are made by you) 3. Amp I bought a 300 watt rockford fosgate it was $75 (I later figured out it wasnt strong enough so I borrowed my buddys 1200 watt walmart special, it's a 4 channel amp. you can get a 4 or 2 channel 2 channel is better for subs the walmart special was $140 but like i said i am borrowing it) 4. Bought a headunit that normaly cost $230 but got it as an open box special at best buy for $160 WOOT! (mine has 3 RCA outputs which = more sub control/independent subs) 5. Interfase wiring kit $20 6. bought a power wiring kit for $78 at walmart.(it was a good deal cuz i got a 6 gage wire and a 500 microfarrad capasiter plus all the other stuff like ground wires and remote wire exc...) So all together I spent $488 so about $500 so it costs a little but it's worth it. Im sorry if I over answered your question I like electrical systems! here are some links to my head unit the red and white things are rca's http://www.pioneerelectronics.com/P...Source/CD-Players/Premier/ci.DEH-P600UB.Popup remember I have an 06 lancer your systems may be different.
