Hey guys, I got my exhaust a few months back. With my heavy work schedule I hadn't been able to wash it as much as I had wished to and un fortunately we had a lot of snow in this area, so that mean salt on the roads...UH OH! Here's the deal...does anyone know how to get surface rust spots off of a stainless stell muffler caused by heavy exposure to road salt? I heard that using Baking soda and Alluminum foil would work out, but I just wanted to get anyone's opinion on here! I've already tried stainless steel cleaner and that made some scrape off of it but not much, and I was thinking of trying CLR or Oven cleaner just to see...so if anyone has any ideas, PLEASE let me know! Thanks!
hmm.. from what i know.. rust is created due to a chemical reaction of some sort.. probly the only way to get rid of it is to cut if off and weld something to cover that spot.
if its stainless steel some steel wool first then some polish and u should be ready to rock out with your... u know the saying
steel wool isn't really needed... you'll get scratch marks, use a dish scrubber pad. same thing happened to me
Unless its polished its not gonna matter but good call with the green pad... Same effect less abrasive.
sometimes a pad and some good ol elbow grease helps but thats really for smalls spots if its a serious problem that wont work
