Tire Sensors

    To all the guys who placed aftermarket rims on the 08, what do you all do with the tire sensor? How annoying is the tire sensor light? Did you get it recalibrated or purchase a new sensor? Let me know.

    Any new (2005+) wheel can use your tire pressure sensors

    yea i have rims and that tire sensor alarm is annoying everytime u start up your car or open ur door on ur dash it says serice required and u have to wait a min then hold down that button and then itll go away.. but then there is a light that is always light up on ur dash so if anyone knows of a fuse to pull for that please inform us

    that shouldn't be happening...if u get them installed correctly the sensor should go right with the wheel and no CEL or anything shoul go off at all.

    ^ it was posted here that in order for the sensor to work properly, it needs to be calibrated to the new rims. It is not that you can just place them on the tires and it will work fine. It needs to be calibrated. I spoke with this one guy that sells rims didnt mention about recalibrating them. I assumed it was just moved to the new rims.

    According to kinkbmxrydr removing the sensor is an easy swap. No calibration or anything. The guys that have aftermarket rims, have you experienced the same thing? Let us know

    ^recalibrate the tire sensors or go to the dealer and spend $200 for new ones.

    just swap the tire sensors to the new rims,and that it,but i think that you have to take you car to the shop to turn you sensor light off :x

    if i take my car to the dealer with the rims on it and let them recalibrate, would that void my warranty since i changed rims?? thanks...

    Nope, you may have to pay for new ones $200 or if they are cool about they may recalibrate them. Any popular tire shop can get your tps calibrated way cheaper the dealer.

    My tps light went on during one of the meets, checked it and had a hole in my pass tire. So it does work but the light is annoying, but thats me.

    last thing, if i decided to keep the rims on and recalibrate the tps, will the sensor light up again after a while?? thanks guys...

    it wont void the warranty and its about an hr worth of labour. they HAVE to be calibrated for the lights to go off. i put new rims on my car a week after i bought it. I asked the dealer when i took it in for its first oil change. it doesnt bother me so much, i could really care less. if it pisses people off, then go to the dealer and spend the hrs worth of labour and get them calibrated.
