Thinking of getting a Lancer

Hey all, I know everybody here is going to be biased towards the Lancer, but right now it is one of the cars I am considering getting. It will be my first new car so I'm looking for some information on not just the car, but the buying process as well. Just so you know, I'm not really into tuning, but I figure some of the best people to ask about this car are the people who are crazy about it...anyway...

I was just going to get the base model but I figure for a few extra grand over a few years, I might as well treat myself to the GTS. I was looking at some of the options on mitsubishi's website, but as I said...I am still kind of confused on how this works. My needs for the car are pretty basic...it's just going to be a commuter car and the only options that I MUST have are a sunroof and MP3 player compatability. Keyless entry and startup would be cool, but not necessary. From what I read, this car comes with a pretty good standard package, technology wise. Is there anything else that is recommended? I don't want a built in GPS...I'm going to get a portable one because I travel across the country a lot and going to need it anyway...so that is out. If there are any other really cool bells and whistles, I'm all ears.

Thanks guys. I'm really excited about this car in particular, so let me know your thoughts.

    welcome..
good to see that your planning to get a lancer...if your going to get a GTS model and dont want the gps on it then go with the sound package or sunroof & sound package...since you said your going to use it as a commuter then i suggest the one with the booom on it...the sound package...

my experience wasn't bad, don't get me, all dealer(stealer)ships are the same, but where else are you gunna go??? so anyways, I have the 09 gts, i got mine fully loaded and i love it. However, if your looking for a cross country driver and dont want to go all out then talk to your dealer about the ES sport...its pretty much a gts but has the smaller 4B11 (2.0) engine, and will be roughly a few thousand cheaper. I believe you can still get the sun and sound package, hook up an mp3, and whatever else you want, if they dont have one they can always ship one in...i wanted a 5 speed and had to wait 4 months for them to build the car and ship it from Japan, so trust me, they'll bend over backwards for whatever you want.

The only issue with the ES is that I just don't think it looks as cool as the GTS. I like the aggressive look, and another thousand or two isn't really an issue for me.

I'm test driving one on Friday, so we will see how it goes!

its not a straight ES, the sport model has all the ground effects just like the gts...its just a normal engine inside of a GTS pretty much...BUT i dont blame you at all, i HAD to have the gts, plus with the 2.4 4B12 engine you have a little bit more edge over the rest of the line up...good luck on the test drive!!!
