i don't necessarily wanna beat an evo but i was at a car club tonight and they were all saying that the best thing i could do for my car was to trade it and i just walked away with my head hung low now convinced i made a bad buy but still determined to prove them wrong getting beat by a 98 gmc sierra was bad enough, now this just sucks so the question still lurks what engine can i drop into my car that can make this baby still run nicely, but as mean as it looks i was lookin at some older evo engines or maybe the new one or would it be cheaper to upgrade all the internals so that the engine i have is identical to the EVO X
if you have the money, you can drop a 4g63T in that bad boy, like i said if you have the money anything is possible... now mitsubishi stands behind the new 4b11T so if you want you could upgrade the internals for your current 4b11 setup. or drop a evo x 4b11T in there. it will bolt straight up. Al lot or re modding would be considered, like relocating your battery, washer fluid. etc etc...
just swap internals, injectors, pump and get a stand back to tune it... all the turbo components (mani, turbo exhaust) are all bolt on...
i would not worry about getting your asss handed to you by a gmc...thats a big V8 compared to the lil inline 4 on the lancer. If you have the cash your best bet would be the X or even the RA, but if you really want to do the engine swap, go for it. Just remember a tune is the best thing you can get for the engine swap.
just hang in there bro...i know our ride is limited......AT THE MOMENT......upgrades will be coming in to power up the 4b11 lancers soon...i bet you somewhere, there are FR 4-bangers than could literally blow off an evo... just be patience...
alright thanks for the confidence guys haha its going to take a loooong time to save up so by the time i have the money my final decision will be made whether to upgrade or swap, im looking forward to whoping the shit outa that guy that said trade your car 8)
Swapping internals is not absolutely necessary though, you can shotpeen the existing rods for added resistance. Get the crank balanced also and have the shop port the block head. Forged pistons though are a must if you are looking for improved performance by boosting, you might also want to look into bigger valves. Don't touch the cam or upgrade though if the car for street use.
That depends on how radical the design of the cam is. If you were to drop in a cam specifically designed for racing, you would lose major gas mileage and driveability. Very radical designs will be extremely rough at idle.
Yeah but a milder cam and a port and polish will do wonders for a car. I imagine if you're going through the trouble of cam, port and polish, internals, a little rough idle and gas mileage isn't your major concern. Main concern now = Speed!
i am going to have to agree with others, cant compare a v8 to an inline 4.... not an even match up, however when you do upgrade the internals go race him again, and guess who is going to have look for a swap. lol how sad would that be to get beat by an inline 4 when you have a v8. keep your head up man, more parts will come out with time.
take the engine of the Ralliart. This engine is nearly the same as the one of the normal Lancer. With a few mods it will come over 300 Hp and you don´t have to place your battery and so on in the trunk.
Why is this even a thread? I seriously doubt anyone is going to drop any serious amount on a 2.0L lancer. It would be cheaper and cost effective to get a ralliart or evo. Right now our car is an supercharged grocery getter, nothing more. I am even more embarrassed that I bought the CVT which has even less potential then the manual transmission. Other than it being a very beautiful car, a lot of times I regret my purchase. I could have gotten something almost as hot and ALOT faster, and hell of alot cheaper. It is nice having the only "new" lancer in my county but it can also be a curse. Hopefully they come out with something other then basic add-ons to really get some power out of our cars.
does anyone know if the engine mounts are the same?? in a few days a will ask my seller how much a Ralliart engine is. I think it´s better to change the whole engine and not only to turbo it. sure it´s more work, but the engine will last much longer!! and with all mods i think a whole engine is cheaper than only a turbo and it won´t blow up so easy
Why would you think buying a whole new motor would be cheaper then just turbocharging it? You run just about the same risk turbocharging any motor and start messing with it. You need to know what you are doing first and have a game plan before starting to go down the turbocharging road. Use quality parts and research, research, research, and watch your tune....

my idea was to tune everything i can (bore out the cylinders and do all the stuff theyre talking about above) then eventually add on the biggest turbo i could fit and bolt on anything else for power...i have an 09 GTS, no one would see that shit coming...its true sleeper edit: plus when it comes to the evo x, yes theyre the best we have right now, BUT you are paying for a name and a few added features you dont need (DEF not knocking the evo's,i love to have one, but given the rest of our current positions who dont have an evo, this seems to be a great alternative) i could stay under 30k grand total to do this all, when an evo is 32k+...and it doesnt matter what you have, de, es, gts...they can all be beefed up

Use quality parts and research, research, research, and watch your tune.... the thing is that my engine is the 1.8 because i life in Austria and i don´t know exactly which parts are the same with the 2.0 engine. so if i had to change all the internals i maybe cheaper to buy a whole new engine which got already a turbo! what a friend told me is that the lancers have all the same fixing points, as i thought, so it will be less work to put the whole engine in. and if i want to registry my new engine it will be much easier at the TÜV to get the sheet.
