Hey guys since i installed the RRM pzev headers i have been getting this crazy rattle when ever i turn on the car or back out. or if i take bumps you can hear the exhaust hit the chassis of the car. I can hear it directly below the shifter which brings me to the cat, so im assuming the cat is hitting the chassis but i can' t figure out why cause when i look at it their is a good gap between the cat and the chassis aluminum heat sheild.
Let someone turn on the car while you're looking at the cat/under the car, so you'll know if that is the part hitting the chassis. Then, call RRM or go to a nearest shop for them to check if you installed it right.
i noe for a fact its installed right, and i have been under the car while someone turned it on and i can't hear it from below the car???? its so fustrating!!!!
omg i have the same problem!.. ive been trying to figure out what to do and i also have the rrm headers.. but i have the greddy exhaust and me and my dad built an extra piece to secure the exhaust to the car and everytime i turn on the car it gives off a rattling noise and it continues for the next 10 seconds or so but when i pull away and start driving it goes away... its so annoying cuz i dont want people to think i installed anything wrong cuz ive been under my car 100's of times and cant find anything wrong .. so frustrating!
if i pull away in reverse you can hear it really loudly to hitting the chassis. or if i bog 1st gear you will hear it loudly their as well. im thinking about getting those poly-urethane bushings but im not to sure yet. im thinking it might be the flex pipe on the headers flexes to much
yo, i had the same thing happen, everything is alligned correctly. But it sits higher, it is smacking the rear axle. Its not the heat shield surrounding the resonator. You need to go to a shop and have them put it on a lift, put a torch to the pipe and have them put a big set of plyers around the pipe while its cherry red from the torch and compress the pipe down. I needed to shrink my pipe maybe a 1/4". I threw them $20 bucks and that was it. You can try heat tape from an auto store and wrap it around the pipe at the axle for a spacer, but you may still get rattling.
i fixed it for now!!!!!! FIGERS CROSSED!!!!! I took the extra rubber hanger i had from the stock exhaust when i switched to my tsuedo. it is taller, wider and stiffer so it makes the exhaust pipe sit farther away from the chassis and its stiffer so that shit isn't goign anywhere. Im so happy its finally fixed !!!!! Thank you baby JESUS! Thank you Tom Cruise!!!! Thank you Opra!!!!!!!!
see my problem isnt having the exhaust hit the chassis or the rear bumper... i made sure theres like at least a one inch clearance from everything... but after i put my headers on the downpiping felt so stiff and it felt like there was no possible movement.. the rattling doesnt sound bad but i just want my car perfect lol
i bought a magnaflow catback exhaust and it fixed my problem. the header repositions your pipes funny..
brian, you have a cvt or m/t? I'm wondering how that magnaflow sounds. ive got a sri, tsudo axel back, headers, crank pully, on a cvt...just curious
i have cvt GTS. ive got injen cai, header, pulley, magnaflow catback, and piggyback. maybe i'l post a video soon.
