WEIRD SMELL FROM RUNING DA CAR HARD???

    HEY IM KINDA NEW TO THE FORUM BUT IM LOOKING FOR ADVICE?

    WHENEVER IM RUNNING MY CAR HARD, I GET A WEIRD SMELL FROM MY CAR....IM THINKING IT'S EITHER THE HOT MUFFLER ( STOCK ) AND THE REAR BUMPER OR
    IT HAS TO DO WITH THE CVT TRANNY GETTING HOT.. DOES ANYONE KNOW...THANK YOU!

    Never experienced that. What does it smell like?

    NOT SURE.....IT SMELL KINDA LIKE, I DON'T KNOW IF YOU HAVE EVER EXPERIENCED THIS BUT, KINDA LIKE IF I GOT A PLASTIC BAG CAUGHT ON TAIL PIPE AND IT'S MELTING....BUT I CHECKED NOTHING THERE....DO U HAVE A CVT? HAVE U EVER JUST FLOORED IT LETS SAY ON ALL THE WAY HOME AND THEN AND U OPENED UP UR CAR DOOR GOT A WIFF OF SOMETHING...IM SURE IT NOT JUST EXHAUST FUMES...I GOING TO DO IT AGAIN TODAY AFTER WORK AND TAKE A LOOK UNDER DA CAR TO SEE WHERE EXACTLY IT COMING FROM....

    hey Aliasgx you dont have to type in all caps, on forums its considering that you are yelling at us, so please say you are sorry :albino: As for having the smell coming from your car, its probably since everything is so new in your car, when you give it some hell it will heat up and to the point that it may smell. Say you are going 100mph and you slam on your brakes, trust me you will smell either the rubber or brake pads from the heat. So if this is happening only when you give it hell its normal.... The smell should diminish over time...

    i have the same thing with my car, but its coming from the engine. there is nothing wrong with it.

    yo i noticede the smell too, but either i'm getting used to it, or it is indeed wearing off. i've had mine since july.

    sorry for the caps....and thanks for the advice...i feel much better now....i've only had the car for about a month....and i was hoping it wasn't serious...thanks again!

    one other question: is there a way to change my radio stations to what i have as presets from the steering wheel? my wifes 08 civic ex does this and mine doesn't...wtf! lol

    umm... mine does... i dunno if it's part of the options. i have 09 gts with sun&sound and the navi unit

    i got an 09 gts as well, but didn't really care too much for the rockford fosgate system...maybe dats the problem???? because it's a standard head unit....

    haha ive asked this before too and haven't gotten a definite answer, i have an 08 gts w/o s&S and the steering wheel button seeks through radio stations instead of seeking through the presets, any help anyone?

    Smell could be the unburnt fuel, thats the only smell I get after running the car hard, I always thought it is was from the car running to rich. I have the steering wheel controls with no navi, but with rockford fosgate, cant change through the presets either, the only thing I do is since it has two Fm for presets, I leave them on the two stations I listen to the most and just push the (mode?) button to change between the FM station preset menus, but thats only if I am two lazy to raise my hand lol.
