last saturday Nov 22 2008, my lancer went missing.... just got it last year car was barely over a year old. less then 3k left on the car payments... oh well luckily got full coverage.
thanks guys, this is the first time ive experienced it and whats funny is that we moved from chicago to champaign IL thinking itll be safer. it just goes to show that it happens when and where you least expect it. so far from what we know, the insurance will cover everything minus whatever we left we owed. i beleive the gap insurance does kick in when theft is involved im gonna call my dealership to see exactly what will happen with that. kinda funny though that this happened. since we HAVE to get a new car, and we're going with the same finance co, they're willing to give us 3500 for customer loyalty. The dealership we previously purchased our 08 lancer gts from is giving us 500 cashback for loyalty and a college graduate rebate which is also another 500 if we purchase from them again that is. so with that 4500 plus the the check from the insurance co(which they said will be about 24000), we probably will get an upgrade. probably either the ralliart or the evo me and my wife are not sure yet. luckily we only owed 2800 left ever since we got the car in sept 07. but yea hopefully this all turns out alright. just sucks not having a car to get around with. and i hope nothing like this ever happens to you guys and if it does, hopefully youll get the same deals like im getting.
I'd like to know how it's even possible to steal a Lancer unless you left it unlocked with the key in it, or running... ?
I know if it were to happen to me i would get this nice big shaft right it in the butt... Hope it all works out. Good luck
sorry to hear that bro... but ive been hearing the same shit and to me its no surprise... heres the deal...a friend of mine owns a corolla s the 2000 model...just before she finishes her payment it went missing, cops couldnt not find it anywhere for a few months so the insurance cover it full, problem was the value of the car went down after a few years so the insurance only gave her the value of her car which was prolly 1/4 of the car's worth now from the time she bought it... its kinda a sad because you make all those payment plus the insurance and you wont even get close to the amount when you bought your car...
well anything is possible. my car is still missing. it was manual so maybe they put the brake down and towed it out? im not sure.
is lojack even worth it? my buddy told me about a DIY navi tracker using a boost mobile phone and like 10 bucks a month just for the navi service. i have yet to ask him for the details but it sounds like a decent idea.
well i know its only about $10/month and its included in my monthly payment...i think...the good fact is that you have a higher rate of finding your vehicle if it gets stolen...
True, but in most cases, at least around here, if your vehicle is stolen you don't want it to be found. You end up with your car back, along with all the damage done to it. Sure insurance will fix the cosmetic damage and all that, but the stuff that gets done to your car that is most damaging is often unnoticeable until later on when you start having engine troubles, etc ... I think the only way you will ever get back what you paid for your car is if you have a package policy. For example, we bought a package policy that will give us the full cost including taxes and fees of our car if it is totalled or stolen. Of course we end up paying an extra $35 a month for it, but I think it's worth it in the end. We've developed a motto, if you're gonna crash it, make sure it's totalled.
Update: finally got a new car. me and the misses went with an apex silver evo x. i think we got it a for a pretty decent deal. 37695 with the sss aero navi aluminum trim , tt&l ext warranty gap insurance life time oil changes and 3500 dollars in maintenance coupons. ill post pics up soon
