Ok, so if I'm wrong please don't bash on me too much.. I've noticed that Evo X's equipped with HID's have the DRL's as the high beams, like most other cars. NOW, would it be possible to just switch out our headlights with a pair of OEM HID Evo X headlights? I mean would a different harness be needed? Or would this be plug and play? This way you could have projectors, AND HIDs without your DRLs making your lights flicker.
Why don't you just construct the DRL bypass circuit using a 9006 extension cable? If you can light a match, you can solder a couple resistors, a capacitor, and a mosfet together. It's easily obtainable using google. I mean *EASY*. There's nothing particularily special about the DRL "signal". The 12v current going to the lamps is just "constructed" differently (I'm not going into how). Swapping lights won't do anything.
you would need an ECU reflash, should be able to get from the dealer, since they have the new touring package, at least i would hope. I know they have updated my ECU when i went in for some service.
the easiest way to turn off your DRL is to cut the cable in the headlight that powers up the DRL and connect it to the cable that turns up the light and thats all... i made that when i intalled my HID and that worked for me. you can make that in 25 minutes you only need a volt tester, cable cutter and some electric tape... :bigsmurf:
