My FASTKey does the same thing all the time. It's usually because the signal isn't reaching where it should.

ie. Too deep in pocket (or purse in my case buried under make up and cell phone and wallet and Dolce sunglasses... lol)

SO, if you can't get the button to work on the door, take your key out and hold it in your hand and press the button, it should work.

If it still doesn't then something is wrong someplace. In which case just lock your car the regular way by pressing the LOCK button on your Key thinger.

And if that STILL fails, do it the old fashioned way and use the key... haha.

    Hope that helps!!

Why does it matter how many miles are on it??? They right it down to keep a record but it wont effect you in a negitive way

do you use the remote alot ??
you may just need to replace the battery in it .

sometimes when remotes get weak they seem to get a little off signal .
similar thing happened to my cousins nissan.

Hold up, everyone has missed part of his statement.

The real question should be what kind of car does your brother-in-law have? Why would his light up when you hit your controller unless it is a Mitsu or another MFG that used the same electronics for the key fob.

Does his controller work or does he get a similar problem when both cars are parked in the same position?

Also, does yours work when you are not around his car?

If it only happens around his car, then one of you will have to go the the dealer about getting the controller frequencies changed.

    .

or maybe ur brother in laws car is made of lead and it blocks all the signals from ur remote to ur car

haha, damn only once in my life have i seen one key work in two different cars. (dsm's). I figured out last night you gain like fifteen or twenty feet from the fob if you hold it to your chin. lol. hope you get it worked out.

Alex if ur remote is lighting up ur bro in laws car you're having a conflict between both car's receivers... try locking your car somewhere when your brother in law's car is not around... that's the first troubleshooting step bro... if it works fine, stay away from ur bro-in-law's damn car! its damned!

I doubt its the battery unless u use way too much or u drop ur key too much u prolly eff'd it up. It cant be the batt, my ES is 8 months old and the key works just fine... he's got his for about half that time.

and if u take it to the dealer, yes they're goin to write down the miles but it dont matter anymore cuz anyways there's nothing u can do to decrease them :p

So what does the AMOUNT OF MILES have to do with it anyway? This sounds like crazy-alex works for Walmart Corp and wants to Rollback something other than prices. :)
