Old Member May finally Get a New Lancer

So, some of yall know me from way back (several months ago). I still drive my nice little putt putt 01 Jetta, but with the extended warranty about to cease to exist, I finally have the motivation, and money save for that matter to get a new vehicle. After test driving a couple of vehicles in the price range that I need to stick to, I am pretty much set on the 2009 Lancer GTS with its little extra omphf in the engine category. The only delima I am running into now is color.

When I went by my local dealer and test drove the new 09 GTS, they ended up using one of the fully loaded Rotor Glow Orange models that was stickered at around $23K $24K. Mind you, this was later in the day so when we left I got to see all the colors for the most part (as there were several Lancers on the lot) in the sun of the day as well as see them again as dusk when we returned from the test drive.

So far, I really like the new Rotor Glow Orange color, but here is my problem. I will be going back to Texas A&M University around this time next year to finish the last 2 to 3 years of my degree. Texas A&M's arch rival is the University of Texas which sports an Orange and White color scheme. Now, while this doesn't bother me as much as some people who really get into the whole college rivalry thing, it still really concerns me because of the fact that I know there are people like that on campus who would key the car just because of that reason. Stupid...yes. A pain in my a**...of course. It is a college campus afterall with drunken kids not thinking about what they are doing. So, what to do...

I originally was looking at the red, but the blue is slowly gaining popularity with me each time I look at it. I really don't want the black or greys. No offense there, I just fell like they are bland colors for my taste. The white is also possible, but it doesn't pop like some whites on other cars that I have seen. My current car, also, is a dark blue, so I am hesitant about going with another blue just because I want something different.

All this being said, once I get back to college, I will more than likely get a new Kawasaki Ninja 250R motorcycle for using around campus, so the Lancer will become more of a cruiser and multiple transport when I need it.

2 reasons why the GTI is out. 1, too expensive. I am trying to stay under $20K with TTL if I can help it. 2, the GTI is kinda bland looking to me and everyone has one. I also know that VWs have a tendency to be expensive to maintain and repair, but that isn't saying much considering most cars have become pretty expensive now and days.

Normally I would agree, but I am new to motorcycles so I don't want anything to powerful that I won't be able to learn the basics on. Plus, it's only for going to and from campus on, not a main vehicle to travel around in. Finally, Kawasaki redesigned the Ninja 250R from the ground up this model year so it finally looks sick like it's older brethren. A picture is worth a gallon of drool.
