i don't know what i've done wrong with the installation but majority of the time when i get into my car and start it up only one of my HIDs power up.... and then i sit there turning them on and off to get it to power up and nothing.... and then it will turn on after a several attempts.... does anyone have this similar problem? I had this problem with no relay, and then i put the relay on thinking it would fix it because it has a direct power source but it still does it.... Any ideas? Also, when they aren't working properly when ever i have my music on it makes a loud buzzing noise... i have the navi by the way.. but when they do work its fine..??.. Thanks

  2. Wow if someone can explain this it would be a lot of help to some of us, because I have that same issue now. Someone told about changing the fuse of the hid's, for example if it came with a 10 changing it to 20 should solve the problem. But don't try this until someone confirms it.

it could be the alternator. when i turn my lights on, my radio reception, turns to absolute crap. the older lancers used a 90 amp. but im pretty sure this is why. i have a system along with hids. i think it might just be too much for the alt. to handle.

i had this problem luckily i had an extra balast, so just check and double check your connections!

I thought that HIDS actually use less voltage? Yeah it also said to install a 20 amp fuse. i think thats what ill try next.

20 amp fuse in the fuse box, or is there one in the ballast?

i didnt get that either, but both of my hids came with a 20amp fuse. i think they do, but to get the electrical discharge, the ballasts use alot of electricity. i mean when you have the hid bulb outside the headlight and u turn it on, inside that small sphere in the bulb, it looks like there's a tiny lightning storm going on inside your bulb 8O

*cracks knuckles* My area of expertise... or at least just one of them :D

First off, check all your connections and make sure everything is set up properly. All aftermarket HID kits should have a separate wiring harness that lets you draw power directly from the battery to power your HIDs. This is because in order to ignite the xenon gas inside HID bulbs, you need a single charge of about 25,000 volts (which explains the tiny lightning storm joberk3 :D). Pulling this strong of a current through the stock wiring system over time will cause burned wires... which will void your warranty.

Furthermore, that buzzing sound you hear is usually caused by the DRL signal kicking in. Try this for a temporary solution. Park your car with the e-brake up and turn it off. Then start up the car and turn on your HIDs WITH THE E-BRAKE UP and see if you still get the buzzing sound. If the car is turned on with the e-brake up, the DRLs will not activate. Once you release the e-brake, the DRLs will kick in.

I just installed my HID's yesterday and they were working GREAT,........ and just today MY PASSENGER SIDE LIGHT JUST BLEW..... only one side works now and I don't know wut the hell to do. I'm not sure if i need a new bulb or ballast? I'm gonna try changin the fuse but i'm not sure how that could be it if one of my sides is still working. THIS SUX :(

That sucks but the place that Carlos (thedude) is talking about is the same place that did ours and so far no problems yet.

Thx. My Aim s/n is JustSabz55...... alright so i discovered that my fuse (No. 19, Capacity 10A, left low beam) was fried..... I changed the fuse with a spare 10A and it still was not working.

So now i checked if it was the bulb that was fried, by swapping the bulb to the left side that i knew was working......and the bulb was working great. So it's not the bulb that is the problem.

That leaves me thinking if it is a cable or BALLAST that is busted.

So I got three clues..... High beams work great on both sides, it's not the bulb thats broken, and there was a blown fuse that i swapped but still not working.

    Any suggestions?

this all sounds familiar, might right one went out too, and then might left stop coming on too, i believe it was because of the drls. the reason why i think this is because everytime i turned on the car, and put down the e brake my drls would come one but the hids wouldnt, all they would do is flicker constantly, so i think i fried something, but i got them replaced for free, but i am afriad to put them back in. lol

Where did you guys get your kits from? If you are using the stock wiring to power your ballasts, this may be the reason why. You should have a wiring harness like the kind MobileHID.com sells so your ballasts and bulbs get power from the battery, not your car's electrical system.
