No one to blame but his own. There are so many psa out there on street racing and unfortunately, he has to learn the hard way.
I know...and to think i used to be that stupid too... Thank God nothing happened to me though. Someday when I have the money I want to build my own track...and call people out on the street to take it to a the track...lol
You don't have to build your own track. You can go out to Texas World Speedway in Bryan/College Station, or Grandsport Speedway in Hitchcock. Not to mention the Autocross at Gulf Greyhound Park we discussed before.
Not that I participate in, nor condone illegal racing, it should be noted that as long as there have been cars there has been racing. Illegal street racing is nothing new and isn't likely to end anytime soon. Also many pro racers started by racing illegal. When there isn't a legal option, those that want to race and possibly go pro have no other means of developing the skills necessary to race pro. However, some locations do have legal options, Houston for instance has AT LEAST 5 tracks that you can take your street car on and learn the ropes. Of these five 1 is a dragstrip, 2 have ovals, and 3 have road course. There are probably more these are the ones I am aware of and hope to utilize. Gulf Greyhound Park is a dog race track between Galveston and Houston that allows its parking lot to be used for SCCA sanctioned Autocross, KART racing, and Drift events. If you've got the money to mod your car you can afford to use these alternatives. One problem a lot of street racers have to deal with is that if they are underage they need parental consent to do things legally and I am sure a lot of them have parents that won't agree. So some of the stupidity lies with the parents who allow their kids to buy, own, and mod performance cars; but, won't allow them to drive these cars at a track where there are rules and requirements that provide some measure of safety.
I notice that RASR is all dragstrip. Granted most illegal racing is essentially drag. But, it would be cool to get more illegal racers involved in road course racing. Unfortunately it is not as inexpensive; but, like I said before if you can afford to mod you can afford to go to the track even the more expensive road course.
ive raced my car 2 times...on a 2 mile long straightaway out in the middle of nowhere...only got to like 90...i think thats about as safe as street racing gets...our nearest track is 2 hours away.
