    Check it!

I know a few of you are looking to place a bypass/resistor for the airbags on our seats.

Before any of you shoot your gun off at me. This is in relation to removing our stock seats and replacing them with lightweight racing seats. When this is done, it throws off our SRS-Airbag sensors. Causing an annoying warning light on our Dash.

I stumbled, yet again, across a post while looking for a way to work around this, "SRS Problem" of ours. This post is for Hondas/Acuras. However, read in depth. This post offers some valid tips on ways we can learn to do this for our cars.

    Read on, brothers.

i think this was known already... wat isn't known is what resistance you need...

True. This will atleast offer some assitance to the first timers, ripping out their seats for the first time.

i think this is what you guys need... it's a Potentiometer... or in other words, a variable resistor... i used it in my Physics Lab... it lets you adjust the reistance in the resistor ... u can adjust it till the light turns off, then measure the resistance in the potentiometer w/ your average voltemeter... just set it to ohms...

    they're also relatively cheap...

here's a pic of how the things look

Ok so correct me if I am wrong here.

1.) I take the Potentiometer and hook it up to the SRS sensor.

2.) Adjust the Potentiometer til the light turns out.

3.) Use my DMM to measure the ohms/resistance then just find the coordinating resistor, or even leave the Potentiometer hooked up to it (Since it's so cheap)

    Yes/No?

^^If that's how its properly done, I would be up to actually testing it.

yes and no... the reason i say no is, u can't just simply hook it up and just keep adjusting the knob till the light turns off, cuz it's not gonna just turn off unless i'm mistaken :p... u have to keep resetting the memory or w/e... read the link that you first gave me... i think you have to do that until you find the resistance at which the light won't turn on anymore... except, it might not be those same exact steps on the lancer, might be slightly different...

and as far as leaving the potentiometer... ya you could, but i'd suggest getting a resistor of the ohms that you need... since the potentiometer can be accidently changed :p

yes i'd also like to see someone succeed in getting the light to stay off because while the stock VRX seats have good side support they still lack shoulder support so on a decent corner you still roll out more than i like to.. plus racing ones look better :p

would also be good to know if all the other airbags are still going to work with the seat ones removed... i assume they would as it would be stupid if they were disabled because you removed the seats.

I just posted a topic yesterday saying i have a recaro seat waiting to be installed on monday, but not sure if I was going to do it due to this possibly causing to void a warranty. How could I get one fast? lol it sounds like it would be a pain in the rear, because I know I would mess something up

^^ everything that can void ur warranty they would do it hahaha it would be a perfect world for the stealership if all they had to do it sell the car no warranty =D

well that is part of ur airbag warrenty if im not mistaken

and plus if they void ur warrenty u dont get free oil changes really boo hoo

o wait mitsu's not like honda and they dont give u free oil changes anyways (well at least mine doesnt  )

but anyways yea it should only void ur airbag warrenty, cause this has really nothin 2 do with the engine so i dont c y they would blame a engine problem on ur seat lol

ya thats wat i was saying... bring ur car to the dealership cuz ur breaks failed... "sorry but we're not responsible... it's ur fault the brakes failed because you switched ur seats".... wtf? lol

plus a dealership shouldnt really care for wht u do with ur car rite, i mean the thing i hate most about all this is that even though the car is urs u still have to worry about all these things, cause even the sales men always tell me..... wht u do with ur car its ur car

i say fcuk it and just do it lol

plus i have a good xcuse if they say somethin about my seat lol

cause i asked if it would void my warrenty and they told me that everything is in my seat belt and as long as i kept my seat belt clip i wont void anythin rofl

so if they try and void it ill just say that lol

most of the time, ppl are afraid to void the warranty because they want free stuff AND the dealership to be responsible when something goes wrong.
The side airbag is there for a reason...

in case of serious injury (ex: side impact) ull just hurt yourself quite badly AND mitsubishi wont give a shi about it ...

its really YOUR car and YOUR life, u know~

there's still side curtain airbags unless i'm mistaken, the seat airbags is just another precaution :p
