Ok so I really really want to black out the front of my car, but I am not sure what all is required or how to even begin to start doing it. Does someone happen to have a link to a write up or something? That would be completely awesome. I have looked on the forums and even on google but cannot find a instruction set or anything for it.

you have the option of using either vinyl or to paint the bumper.

There is a guy on ebay who sells vinyl for the lancer in two and three piece sets for around 50 dollars. The good thing about vinyl is if you ever want to go back to original you can take it off.

If you look at the photo gallery lancered painted his and it looks good, basically if you go the paint route you have to wet sand the area you wish to paint and mask everything else off and go at it.

I think it looks good myself just havent gotten around to doing it yet.

if you decide to use vinyl, go to a local sign shop, you can buy more than what you need for less than 20 dollars. and if you decide paint, just wet sand, wipe off clean, mask off what you don't want sprayed and spray away..

I vinyl on mine and I like it, the hardest part was cutting the line on the sides. Just like gator4life108 said you can buy the vinyl kit off of ebay or you can buy it by the roll on there as well. I just like having the option of going back to the stock look.

Ok cool thanks for the help!! :hello1:

Now my only concern is how does vinyl hold up to rain and weather compared to paint?

I haven't had a problem with my vinyl, don't know about others though. One of the good things about vinyl is an extra protectant on the bumper from rock chips and such. If it ever gets messed up, its just a matter of re-applying more instead of sanding and painting ;)

I'm sure its a matter of personal opinion more than anything else though.

If it is done and applied right, it will last you for awhile.

I had vinyl on my bumper for about 6 months, no problems with it. Until I got bored one weekend and decided to paint it

Yeah, it will work. I say, put a premier first before applying the duplicolor. Heres my blacked out front, will be adding another vinyl on the bottom. (Shitty picture, taken with my camera phone) Will update when i get the bottom done. :thumbright:

I did it myself for the vinyl, pretty easy. I should have done a "how to" but i will for the bottom piece. Its really not that hard, i suggest if your doing it yourself to have another person holding the vinyl while you straighten it out with a credit card.

Anyone know where to get vinyl in Toronto? I've checked Wal-Mart and Canadian Tire. I have no clue where else to check. Thanks.
