HOW TO: Change your license plate lights

    Hello and Welcome!

    Today we are going to change our license plates bulbs... this is very easy and shouldnt take more that 10 minutes...


    First of all, if you have your stock bulbs, it should look like this:

    1) First of all, we have two (2) 194 bulbs on our license plate...

    AUTOMOGLOW can hook you up with them....

    each is protected with a little frost cover held by 2 little Phillips screws:

    After you take the first screw of each side, you should be able to just untight the second screw to be able to rotate the housing... this is a lot easier because if you take the 2 screws completely, the whole housing will come out... not a big deal, but this will take you more time trying to put everything back up again... you will have this after this step:

    2) now just pull the bulb out... if you had them on all th etime (like me) they WILL be hot as bawls :D just use some pliers, gloves, cloth or any other device that would protect you from frying your fingers... COUGHautobotCOUGH lol

    If you went with LEDs like me, you have to pay attention to the positioning of the bulb.. trial and error is the way to go. if it doesnt work flip it around...
    this is the comparison of LEDs and stock:

    After you do the same with both, screw them back up and you are ready to go! :)

    *note: one of my LEDs went bad so i modified mine to have only one coming from the center for now*

    I installed both and they work fantastic but i kinda want them to point more at the license plate or into the bumper more cause it lights up the ground alot!!! might be the clear license plate cover i have on it?!? idk? but im happy with the brightness.

    yea, mine lits up the ground a lot too hehe.. i kinda like it 8)

    I installed LEDs in mine and what a difference no more of that yellowish glow just pure white. I think I'm going a little LED crazy.

    Ektor, what kinda LED's you runnin in your plate lights and in your backups? like what type, cuz they gotta almost be focused out the side of the bulb to look right.

    did you get yours from automoglow?

    I got mine from autolumination. All white LED's. Used them in my parking lights, all 3 interior dome lights, trunk light and license plate light. Will post some pics tomorrow if anyone wants to see.

    Well you dont have to get the exact same style, just get a small enough 168/194 white LED. Or just order from Autolumination :)

    i used red ones... havn't had trouble with the cops...i have been pulled over for speeding but didn't get a ticket for the light or the speeding :)

    y r u guys changing your liscense plate lights, it just makes it more visible for cops

    You can never go to LED crazy... LED is the way to go not only for the light purity but also for the durability.
