Thing is guys: Don't be disappointed. I hope Mitsubishi turns out better and better Lancers every year. The company is on thin ice financially as it is, and our 5 year warranties mean nothing if the company goes out of business (not to mention resale value). The first reviews I've read of this new engine say that its improvements are very noticeable with the CVT. That's been the sorest point with reviewers up 'till now. So if Mitsubishi can turn out a car that gets a Consumer Reports "best buy" tag by its blurb, then that would be great for Mitsubishi's financial health and great for us.

Sorry to say '08 owners( and this is only my opinion) I test drove both an '08 with the 2.0 and the '09 with the 2.4 and the 16 hp makes a world of difference. I didn't think it would but it gives it that little bit of punch that it needs especially on the cvt's. actually drove theGTS first and had to consider the ES because of the price and let me tell you it is completley different car as far as the hp. I had to make the choice of 50 more dollars a month to move up to the GTS from the es with sport and sun and sound but for the fun driveability it is deffinetlay worth it. Hopefully '08 owners can mod enough to get the extra hp.

^ lol...that's usually what happens when people post up random stuff...they have no idea of the answer. its still a new engine.

This came from a Jamie at WORKS from another forum...

Externally, the two are virtually the same, so most bolt-on products should be compatible. When it comes to internal components (crank, rods, pistons, etc...) they're are definitive variations. Expect differences in the ECU, injectors and other peripheral components, but nothing that would dramatically inhibit most aftermarket components. The chassis components (suspension, brakes, etc...) should remain the same unless they do a model-wide alteration/upgrade.

Maybe not answer your question but its a start. Try googling it if no one knows. that's how i got this

while they are giving us the 2.4L that the outlander has had for so long why not give us the 3L V6 too :D .. that runs 162kw i think. Not like they couldnt do it since the oulander and the lancer are more or less the same car.

I'm thinking of getting the '08 or '09 by the end of this month. I might wait it out too. The original plan since last year was to wait for the '95 Civic to die. Guess what.. it hasn't yet. And by now, I'm obviously just like "WTF" and anxious to get the new car. It's kinda pissin me off! But waiting is probably going to be worth it in the end. Though it's a painful wait.

ya, even though civic's a honDUH they sure are reliable ^_^... i <3 my 98 Civic right now =)... my plan is to wait till august, since my civic is worth 4500 right now, i wanna sell it before i start really putting miles into it and killing the value, since it's only 75k miles on it right now =)... but i wanna wait to sell it, to put down a better down payment... so full time summer job, here i come

'98 Civic? Nice! Check this out. I've got a '95 Civic with 330,500-ish km on it right now. That number might be wrong since I've seen the odometer not move sometimes.. lol. Trade-in value? Next to nothing. Might keep this car for winters. But I have no where to keep it.

I got the on GTS cvt like a week ago. After test driving both the 08 and 09 models, I feel waiting for the 09 was the wiser decision. I would like to know if anyone has any info on any sort of mods that are available so far.

the 4b12 pulls harder than the 4b11 out of the hole, it seems to be on tap in the lower rpm range which is nice for around town driving.

  18. ^drove em back to back...thanks for the advice brian...shoot tomorrow?

plus for what i got my 09 for, im sure some people buying 08;s tomorrow will pay more than what i did otd...gotta love it...

Bolt on (Intake maybe something else) is probably interchangable. Talking with a part rep at the dealership (don't laugh... knew his shit) said they could do an 08' Injen intake no prob.

Header & Exhaust was a neg though... he said they'd have to wait.

With the 2.4L layout is prob/obviously different.

I do have a question though... anyone have the HID's installed after purchasing the car? I being told different things about them, from "they're crap and don't work since you're using stock headlights and a kit" to... "they're awesome"

    Thoughts?

This is just my 2 cents. I owned a 08 for quite a while until it became a lemon. And after it was said and done I got a 09 out of the deal. I would highly suggest a 09. The 08 has some bugs, not all, but definitely has some obviously from my situation. Also, the 08 lacks major power, but mine was the CVT. When I got the 09 I got a 5 speed for that exact reason, but you can also feel the extra power the 2.4 has. Just like RRM says, out of the hole, the jump between the two is huge. And as far as the Speedometer guages, the red was ok, but the blue looks much better, especially at night. But I do have the new Octane Blue for the 09. But hey, these are just my opinions......if you have the money though, wait for the Ralliart, will be another 5-7k and be over 200hp. For me and getting a loaded 09 GTS 5 speed under 19k, it was the right decision. And also, someone mentioned the ES Sport because it was cheaper, just negotiate with the dealer, my GTS priced higher, but they do come off the price nowadays. And correct me if I'm wrong, but there should be no difference in the ES Sport and the 08 GTS, they both have the 2.0 in them.
