dont take it above 60-70 mph.. and dont go past 3.5 RPM

drive a good 500 miles then ur good to go :)

if u anal like me, wait till ur 1st oil change cause the 1st oil change breaks the car in.. theres metal flakes and stuff that come out when u have ur 1st oil change.

There is no such thing as a break in period. Clutches dont need to be broke in, engines need to be driven at constantly changing rpms and thats it really.

where do u get your information man, of course there is a break in period!! My friend installed a new act 2100 and glazed it after few days because he was shifting hard and what not, engines have to be broken in, manual says 300 miles!

The engine is broken in from the factory. Just constantly change rpm, dont stay in the same gear for too long (MT) or use the paddle shifters (cvt)

Exactly. As far as clutches Ive installed Spec clutchs, ACT's and stock clutches and never had a problem with any of them. Same as I now have no problems with my lancers.

Of course hey this is what im comfortable with, everyone should do what they are comfortable with concerning their cars.

yea factory these days run the engine hard as part of the test unlike the olden days. so you don't rly have to worry about dirty "metals" in oil or what not. Engine might feel stiff for the first couple months but thats just coz its new.

well i was thinking. why not just drive the hell out of it. i mean its a good way to test out the car for any defects. Put that warranty into good use if something does wrong.

It's really not necessary to "break in" a N/A engine, since it doesn't require much to do so (it is done at the factory, as other people here have been saying). Though, it is necessary to "break in" a F/I car for approximately 2k miles. Even that said, you can drive the hell out of the car because the factory sets the ECU to run on "safe" mode before it breaks in. For example, the EVOX only runs at 8 psi (and extremely rich) of boost until about 2k miles, which is when the "break in" period is over. After that is complete, the psi shoots up to 18 psi.

So, yes there is a break in period, but the consumer (you) does not need to baby the engine. Even though, you shouldn't be driving the hell out your Lancer from the beginning until you know how the car handels/accelerates.

    That's my $0.02.
